Just got word from my Dealer today, they are only going to allow them 2 but they took a deposit on one and will take my deposit tomarrow one the other one. WOOHOO !!!!!!!!!!!!

Just a warning, After further questioning, this dealer called me back today and gave me the harsh facts that of the 2 they were going to get someone had put a deposit on one of them, then proceeded to tell me that I would need to put a $5000.00 - $10,000.00 cash deposit down....LOL. I think they think I'm a total sucker, so I called one of my other dealers and he told me that when he gets word that they will go into production then he will take names and deposits , $500.00 should do it, and he won't hold my money for a year.

In the April 18, 2007 SRT Chat session, the following question was posed to the SRT Team:

"I know you can't exactly mention future status of any vehicle, very understandable... but are you at least thinking of putting the 6.4 (392) in a production DC vehicle of any kind? Is there one set in mind?
How come there aren't ANY manual transmissions in any offered HEMI vehicle?
Was there a reason why there isn't an LSD rear axle for the GCSRT?
What are mods that YOU would do to your personal GCSRT?"

Their cagey response was:

"You're right, I can't. But take my word for it - stay tuned."

Read between the lines. I think I see a 6.4 Hemi Challenger in 2009!

I work for a 5 star Chrysler Jeep and Dodge dealership here in the great state of Wash. Been with Dodge my whole career in sales and have never once seen a dealership take your hard earned money for a vehicle that can't even be ordered. Why on god's green earth would you hand over 10 large for a vehicle that isn't even in the system yet? Wanta buy a bridge? I have one in Tacoma being built and there is a toll on it that is all yours?
Come on people be smart, if a guy walks in behind you and offers $5,000 more for that car, do you really think the dealer is going to reseve it for you?

First come first serve. These cars will be 10K up of MSRP and possibly more. I watch the order banks everyday, the second I see the Challenger come on I am ordering my allocation that minute. No ones name is on them (execept one in my name of course). Who can't fall head over heals for this car? No one in my opinion but I am bias.
I completely understand the excietment of the new Challenger but for god's sake don't give your $$ away on something we have no information on yet. When they hit the order banks in DC connect I will be the 1st one on here letting all of you know!

So - given that most of you think that the first production year will see MSRP plus a 10K uplift, ... who would wait to buy one the following year, when you could get one possibly cheaper? Personally, I hope to get one of he first production year models. I hope to get one with a low production number. Hopefully, my cousin who works for Chrysler will alert me the second they are on the boards -then, only then "perhaps" will I stand a chance of getting one.

I really want to get an SRT-8 Challenger. I do not know how many of these they will be building. If I can not get an SRT-8, I may have to buy a "regular" one - just so I can get a first production year model.

Does anyone think that the second year production model will be "better"? I am curious who would wait for the second year??

1. Convertible.....I keep hearing stronger and stronger roumors that there is going to be a conv. and if there is a chance...Thats what I want I have 3 Challenger conv now and ...well you get the idea.

2. Options.....In my mind the option list is sure to grow...more stripes, wings. Lots of historical evidence of this Look at the Chargers ...Even the Vipers got cooler later on...Remember when you had the choice of Red Or Red...

3.Engineering improvements...Look at the differences between the 70 and 71 models.. a fair amount of hard parts changed. Since
the new chall will be based on cars already in production It probably will not be a much but by the second year alot of the kinks
will be ironed out.

4. Price...After everyone who is willing to pay that extra $10,000+ to "Be The First" it will become a car and market forces will begin
work. If they build 30-50,000 cars a year....look at the Chargers and who can forget the PT Cruser.....Sheesh!!!

I bought my first Challenger in 1975 a 72 340 4-speed Superblue 3.55 8.75. Still in my garage. And been collecting others ever since. I have been dreaming of being able to order a new one for years, what it would be like to get one exactly the way I want it. So there is no doubt that I will have one. But I think I'll wait.....So I am sure to get it The way I want....Having said all that......Refer to the first line

"What I have been told is that the challenger srt8 will only come in a 6.1 hemi with a 6spd manual. The great news is that we were told that the base price would be $37,420, there will also be 3 srt option groups just like the charger. The 5.7 (trim level designation still being decided) will have a base price $29,970. I am in Fort Wayne, IN fwi. Also, there will be no 3.5L v6 right away, just a 5.7L and 6.1 in the srt. Plans are according to our district manger is to release a base level with a 4.0 (same motor as nitro) in 2-3 years to increase volume. "

I would like the get an SRT version, will wait a couple of years to see what is available as options an so forth, my feeling is the R/T trim level with be closer to 31,000, but that just my thoughts on it. Like anything else, nothing is set in stone right now, just speculation. One thing not stated, I have a very strong feeling that there will be an added gas guzzler tax to this vehicle.
