Default Fair Price for a Challenger?

I hear many of you complaining about dealers and the prices they are asking, and I admit some are out of their minds, but what do you think is a fair price for an SRT or an RT? Just curious because I think there are deals out there if you get away from certain areas.

Since both of us already own one, I believe we both have an opinion. I believe that anyone willing to travel to buy a Challenger can find one at a small mark-up above invoice. In my case I paid $600.00 over invoice (35 days ago) and traveled from Birmingham, Alabama to Atlanta, Georgia (roughly 150 miles). All the local Birmingham dealers had only two Challenger's (total of SE, RT or SRT) or less and they all wanted over sticker for the car. I tried to buy locally. Normally this would be my preference. I believe anyone who will buy a car from an American car company in these economic times is making an effort to help the economy even if the purchaser does not intentionally think about this.

I paid $1200 under MSRP at the local dealership. About the middle between Invoice and MSRP.

I believe the market, especially for SRT's, is softening and you can get a deal. My point would be to look around, and if your local area dealer is trying to hold you up, broaden your search. I paid MSRP for my SRT in January.

I'm in the St.Louis area and am willing to help anyone looking for a Challenger.

I paid $500 under the window sticker for my 09 RT. They were not wanting to budge off sticker however having the cash in hand helped. I heard another guy in the area went in with his financing already lined up and got the same deal...$500 under sticker. That's about the best I have heard in the Northern Ohio area. The cars are moving fast up here. Some dealers are still trying to add a "Market Correction" to the sticker....those cars are not moving.

Any price without the "Market Adjustment" tacked on......would be a good start

Are you saying that a fair price for an SRT is invoice? Well, your entitled to your opinion, but right now that's as unreasonable as dealers wanting 5K over MSRP.

Everything I've found suugests that dealers are paying between $37k and $39.5K for these cars. Regardless of what fish story some try to tell a dealer will never sell a car at a loss. That being the case, you aren't going to get a new SRT8 for under $37k. Especially since Chrysler isn't offering any dealer kick-backs on the SRT8 (not sure if the SEs or RT get one either). I got them down to $40,395 ($43k & change with taxes) That's $37.5 plus gas guzzler ($1300) and additional charge for manual tranny ($695) and fees ($900 - destination charge, tag, title). I nearly got them down to what they paid for the car because most people would over look the car because it doesn't have every possible option so it was seen as one of the more difficult cars to move. I didn't want the stripe kit (a friend paints cars and will be painting mine on and clearing over it); the Kicker system is nice but I can get way better in the after market and pay less; and I'd rather have a removable NAV I can take with me.
