I'm sick for you. That's just totally unbelievable. I went thru the 08 to 09 ordeal and it's tough. I feel for you and hope there will be a near match show up for you soon. In the meanwhile, I'd get the 6-speed ordered again.

Nooo that cant be true! Thats unbelievable! How can they screw up as important an item as the DRIVETRAIN! You better make SURE that is your car that they are getting in. Check every last letter of that VIN. There could be a mix-up somewhere. Check your (I)s for (1)s and (O)s for (0)s and (D)s etc. There is probably someone out there with a manual car that is wondering what happened to his auto. Either that or your dealer is a complete moron.

I know this is a bad time to ask, but when you do check the car, could you verify what kind of racing stripe is on it? Carbon fiber or Black?

Good news for me, Mine went to F status today. I went to D1 Status on the 10th of sept so for you guys in D1 status they should start building in about 16 days. My original build date was the 22nd of Sept. So around 2 to 3 weeks waiting at D1.

Brucer, check the vin against the build sheet. If you have a build sheet that shows the manual, and it has the automatic, you have the rarest Challenger I have heard of yet. I wont try to talk you into the automatic, because to each his own... but if the vin, and build show manual, and it was built as automatic I would think it was 1 of 1 to date.

Hey, I feel the PAIN you're feeling over the wrong car arriving (I'm the guy who ordered a stone white 2009 RT the 1st day orders were being taken and it arrived 6 weeks later quickly but the guy backed it into a pole) AND I can feel the joy being felt by Venthos as his went to D1 today (as my replacement car went to D1 today too!!).

I can empathize with trying to decide whether to take this one (which isn't exactly what you want, just like I agonized whether to take that damaged one after it had been repaired) vs. ordering another (and I eventually went that route because in the long run I wanted what I wanted - a car configured just as I want it in pristine shape on delivery).

And I have good news on that - I gave my dealer a LOT of static about the screwup and they ended up dropping my price $1000 for my agony AND they put a rush on the reordered car - that car was ordered less than 2 weeks ago on the 15th and it already went to D1 this AM and the expected ship is Oct. 9. So yeah waiting for a replacement will cost e a little over a month, but I will have what I want in perfect shape.

It's your choice but for the cost of an extra month wait you can probably have what you want in pristine shape AND maybe you can get your dealer to sweeten the deal for you while you wait!!! IT'S WORTH A TRY!!!

You can't imagine how frustrated I am for you!! well yes you can cause your the one having this LOUSY problem which I think is really the dealers fault but I could be wrong. In any case it certainly is not yours and your dealer should have been on top of your order knowing how special it is and was to you. Plus you know what you ordered and what ever you decide the dealer should compensate you in some manner to your satisfaction. As for what you should do.....well all I can tell you is what I would do but then I'm probably more patient than most but if I really wanted the 6 sp then I would reorder and demand that the dealer do everything in his power to rush your order and delivery as I'm sure there is no way to rush an actual build. Now if you look at the actual dates of my car I can show you that from Scheduled Build or D-1 to actual delivery was about 35 days so its possible to get one that fast. My long wait was from initial order with a von on May 15 to that D-1 status in late August. Brucer my friend what ever you do please put down that ax!!! I truly believe that if you want that 6 sp that bad that its truly worth waiing for!! I could write 3 pages here of stories about trying since Dec of last year to try and get one of these Challengers and all the dealers with all the lies and BS and then finally finding a dealer that would even place an order and I agonized over the thought that I would never get one for some crazy reason . Well if I waited long enough my patience would pay off and it has. So do what you think is best just for you! Make the dealer do his job or whatever you think you want him to do and within a month or 2 at most you'll be driving EXACTLY WHAT YOU REALLY WANT

Hey, glad to see I am not alone waiting on a Challenger. I ordered an RT on July 3, 2008 which was built September 12, 2008. As of the 16th it is in J status which means it is sitting on a lot somewhere in Egypt probably waiting to ship. I was told by Chrysler that it could take up to six more weeks for it to be transported. UGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
