If all dealers were like this we wouldnt have to worry about pricing.

Very cool! Nice to see others out there who "get it".

Great story. Most dealers wouldn't give them a spare tire, much less a car. People would be suprised how important customer service/relationships are to a business. I am sure that those people will tell everyone how well this dealer treated them, and many will remember the dealer when its time to buy. More business and publicity, all without a markup or any underhanded tactics.

Your right about that. Look at Saturn for an example. Until recently, most of their cars were really undesireable yet they were successful purely on the basis of having excellent customer service and a friendly environment. The places where I do business are the ones who treat me like family, not as a means to an end.

There is a bonus for them. They do get to do it as a tax write off, not to take away from the good that they did because no other dealership out there would do this. At least not one that I have heard of in the news.

Yeah that's why I always liked saturn, they actually seemed to care about the customers. Another example would be Lexus, their customer service (from my understanding) is impeccable. Most Lexus owners actually like go to the dealership. They are like Normstrom except they sell cars.

Your right Axel, but many dealers would rather let the cars rust on a parking lot than give a older used car away. Still I would like to see how this affects their bottom line. After seeing this, if I lived in the area, I would give consider giving them a chance to get my money. It also make me wonder if this a yearly program they have going on.

Yep, this is kind of like Goodwill. You get a receipt for a tax writeoff when you give a donation.

I am glad to hear of such good will from a dealer. Very nice cause and also free publicity.

Just plain good business. It is a win-win for all parties involved.

Exactly this is an example of why it pays to be generous when your in business. The media will give you attention for showing that you care, you get a tax write off, and a needing person gets a car that they needed. The media writers can go to bed knowing that they sold papers by doing something considerate instead of smearing. Everybody wins.
