RE: rebuild or replace 340
what is a stage 3 340? im not familiar with this "Stage 3".
im not a fan of the crate motors...my 340 is running low compression and it will stomp a mudhole in a crate motor..
is it a numbers car?

RE: rebuild or replace 340
Dodge has defined various stages of performance upgrades which include various bolt on power adders. This is a numbers correct rallye car with the exception of the trans. (converted auto to a 4-speed). This engine stage is cammed up with matching rough idle but revs nicely well into the 6K+ range.
Since I am time constrained for the next year, I thought a crate motor would be a good starting place to add the cam, etx. I don't want to play engine builders roulet and I want to keep the car essentially original with period mods.

JJ,
Get an engine building book and rebuild it yourself.
Send out for the machine work of course but you'll have pride in knowing you assembled it yourself.
You read up on things and choose your components. You'll love it!
