RE: Vanishing Point
Lot of people are to young to remember it. It is in books as THE BEST CAR CHASE IN MOVIE HISTORY and for good ressons the speeds they reached on those streets and conditions was asom. The naborhood people were told speeds would not exeed 35mph. making the movie can we say double that and some times more

RE: Vanishing Point
Everyone these days thinks 'Gone in 60 Seconds' is the greatest car chase movie ever. What happened to the good ole' days when people watched good car chase movies?
Personal modern day car chase movies:
1. Italian Job
2. Bourne Identity
The genre is quickly losing its proliferation in American cinema.
Probably not "socially responsible" and some movie exec is worried about being sued when some dope fails to distinguish make believe from real world.

I don't think anybody has yet to mention FRENCH CONNECTION! If it has been, my sincerest apologies. I'd put that one up against ANY car chase scene; modern era and/or stone age.

RE: Vanishing Point
I almost included it; but the 80's ain't exactly modern!
Granted Clint Eastwood wasn't tooling around in those ridiculous plaids from the 70's still....
but abso-tutely. That is one of the best ever. In fact, I heard about the Chase scene before I heard anything about the movie back in the dizzy.
