RE: 09 Challenger vs 09 Mustang (Hmm)
I would have to agree if it was a short straight line. By short I mean less than a 1/4 mile. My wifes 2006 Mustang GT comes out of the hole well and picks up quick but that little V8 does not have the deep down Horsepower that the Hemi is bringing to the table. In my earlier post, I was doing well for a very short distance against a Charger but once the RPM's got up on that Hemi..I was staring at tailights.

I think then we add the cold air box, supercharger and something a bit stickier for tires on the Challenger...then bring on that pony..see if it can stand the heat then.

Again I will interject that we need to see them side by side before you call it a race. And I would like to see a closer match of like components. The long flat torque curve will beat a peak HP curve and so its better to look at those things also. Suspension comes into play more than most know. To just look at HP numbers will not reveal a winner. Thats why we race them side by side. Put your base Mustang GT against a base Challenger R/T and let the tale be told by the tape. My bets on the R/T and if its a 302 top of the line Mustang then run it against the SRT-8 top of the line Challenger. A GT500 is in a league by itself and unless there is a specialty Challenger all by itself they should not be compared as equals. Though I might add that a 6.4 SRT-8 Challenger might give it a good run

It does beg the question why Dodge wouldn't offer the "Extreme Performance" option and make a factory installed blower available, just to claim fastest production pony.

Too easy. Just throw a supercharger on it and call it a Ford Challenger Just kidding of course and you are right. Blown Vipers rule the streets and make their power so easy. but some tuning is needed to make it safe. A blown Challenger would just be in a league by itself
