10K Limited Chally's as Opposed to 5K?
I've been posting URL's to take load off this posting server but it seems not to be the convention

Anyhoo, 10K is more than 5K makes me wonder if those who were initially buying because they wanted exclusivity and value associated with a limited run are concerned that that run just got half as limited (which oddly mean more in double negative land).

It seems that selling the new Dodge Challenger SRT8 is no challenge at all.
Dodge dealers began taking orders for the redesigned muscle car Monday and already have taken more than 6,000 deposits for the vehicle, Chrysler LLC said Wednesday.

On the first day alone, around 4,300 people placed orders.
"There's a lot of excitement on the car. ... We already have a dozen legitimate sold orders in the system," said Chuck Eddy of Bob & Chuck Eddy Chrysler Dodge Jeep near Youngstown, Ohio.
Customers so far have only seen the concept model of the car, which was unveiled during the 2006 Detroit auto show.
The production version won't be made public until February's Chicago Auto Show.
In rolling out the vehicle, Chrysler is first selling a limited-edition version of the 2008 Challenger SRT8. While the company has not yet said how many it will make, it will be less than 10,000, a company spokeswoman said.
"It is going to be a limited edition," said Kathy Graham, a Chrysler spokeswoman. "It's apparent that based on the first couple of days that we're going to hit our limit."
The $37,995 vehicle comes with a 6.1-liter V8 and dual carbon-fiber hood stripes, which the company says "hearken back to the original Dodge Challenger."
It's only offered in black, silver and orange, with the company saying that more than half of the orders are for orange.
"It's been almost 35 years since the last Challenger, and there's a lot of interest. There's a lot of people anxious for it. It's certainly an iconic muscle car," Mark Mallie, the Challenger brand manager, said in a statement posted on the company's media Web site.
Chrysler plans to later announce the complete Challenger lineup with entry-level models possibly expected in the 2009 model year.

Maybe Dodge sees the demand and excitement over this vehicle and bumped up the initial run numbers. I bet it will still be hard to get an 08 even if they do make 10K.
This happens quite often. The Liberty CRD was only going to produce 5K a year originally, then they ended up producing 11K a year. The value will still be there because sadly some of these are going to be destroyed in accidents and those types of things. If anything this is good. Chrysler is seeing that there is demand for this car despite the conditions in the car market.

I posted on another thread that I visited a 5 Star dealer that the sales manager told me they were only going to make 2.6K Challengers. I just don't get where
they get their information from.

I think the issue is that these places hear rumors that come from who knows where and because many of them do not keep up with the latest information, they end up demonstrating that they know pretty much nothing.

RLSH700, I was going to suggest the same thing...conjecture, telephone game, hear it, repeat it, start to believe it as fact, infect others with what you've come to perceive as the truth....it's amazing how things get twisted around. Communication, at first blush, seems relatively simple, but man, are there a lot of opportunities for it to be botched.

True that Rich. Though, it's certainly fun to know more than those selling them in some cases. Of course when I was selling them (mid 90's), I was already a Mopar nut...so I studied them pretty well, was enthusiastic about the product and sold lots of units....I made decent money; I just couldn't hack non-consecutive two days off, and that seemed pretty common.
Hope dealerships have changed the scheduling of reps now.
