6,400 2008 SRT8 Challengers to be made

RE: 6,400 2008 SRT8 Challengers to be made
I dunno. I had a '70 Challenger, and there were a LOT more problems with them than there were with the later models. It's too bad they didn't keep the exact appearance of the '70 all the way through the production run, as it indeed was the best LOOKING one of the bunch. A lot of little problems with it, though, especially in the way the floor was sealed. I knew plenty of people with '70s who had the same troubles I did, but folks with '71s through '74s didn't have this problem.

There was some talk that they were consideing up to 10,000 units, but the final number they decided on is 6,400 2008s.

Question about the total units to be made for 2008, I was reading in another section that they increased this to 10,000. Is this true?

Thanks for the information. I was reading in another section a post back in December of 2007 that: "Chrysler starting taking orders for the 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 on December 3rd and within 3 days the automaker managed to receive over 6,000 orders. It was initially rumored that only 5,000 of the 08' models would be produced, but now Chrysler has confirmed that 10,000 of the 08' Challenger SRT8s will be built."

Actually, Dodge stated they wanted to keep the '08 Challenger SRT8 to a "limited production" of under 10,000 units. They could have made the final number 9,999 and kept their word, but for whatever reason, decided on 6,400.
Personally, I think it had more to do with the capacity of the Brampton plant over a limited amount of time - allowing for possible production problems - before coming out with the '09's.

Thanks guys. I just joined the site this morning and am trying to read everything I can. When I ordered mine I was under the assumption there were only going to be 4,500 2008's made. After reading many posts here I say anything from 6,400 to 10,000 so I wanted to see if anyone knew for sure. I can live with 6,400 total units made.
Thanks again!

There's a ton of information in here, so take your time and peruse the threads at your leisure.
I'm confident that we share more information in one day than the dealerships have in total.
If you have a question, and a verifiable answer exists, I'm sure you'll find it in this forum. If not, ask.
Enjoy your stay with us.

RE: 6,400 2008 SRT8 Challengers to be made
One question I do have is I ordered mine without a moonroof. I have 2 old muscle cars and they do not have moonroofs. It seems like most of the ones I have seen ordered have had them ordered with them. Is this a bad idea if I ever needed to resell the car in anyone's opinion?
Thanks
Jody
