GM plan to finish in '09

General Motors said it will finish a $6.7-billion investment in its South Korean unit in 2009 as it seeks to expand sales outside its home market.

The money for GM Daewoo Auto & Technology Co. will help pay for product development, unit Chief Executive Officer Michael Grimaldi told a meeting of the Detroit Society of Automotive Analysts on Tuesday, GM spokeswoman Geri Lama said.

JCI will split shares

Johnson Controls Inc., the world's largest maker of automotive batteries, said it will split its shares 3-for-1 on Oct. 2.

The split will go to shareholders of record as of Sept. 14, Johnson Controls said Wednesday. The company said it will pay its quarterly dividend of 33 cents at 11 cents a share after the split.

The split is a positive move and a "strong signal of where management sees its stock price heading," said Brian Johnson, an analyst at Lehman Brothers.

ArvinMeritor closing plant

ArvinMeritor Inc. said it will close its Commercial Vehicle Systems assembly plant in St. Thomas, Ontario, by Nov. 23.

ArvinMeritor said the facility employs 17 people and serves as an assembly site for drivelines. The work will be transferred to the company's Laurinburg, N.C., plant.

More Chryslers get Sirius

I hope I can still get local programming that is free with HD Radio and still plug in an external MP3 player.

Any MP3 play not just an Apple MP3 player.

I really don't want Sirius. Radio in my eyes should be free (and please don't give me that "you pay for it by the commercials" line). I like normal radio just fine.

I had XM installed in all my cars 5 years ago. Since then I got Sirius as part of the Dish Network in my home. For the old school music I love Sirius is the only way to go. I was going to change my cars to Sirius but since a merger is pending.....

I'm very glad I'll be cruising with Sirius in my new Challenger!!

Jeremiah, I agree with you on the MP3 player. In fact, I already am compiling songs on my computer for use in the Challenger (after all, a modern classic like the Challenger can't be sullied by just any music -- in short, if it was played in my 1970 model, it will be played in the '08). Thus far, I've obtained 90 songs of about 300 I have on a list for Challenger use. I'd well imagine MP3 players will be able to be used in the Challenger. When the '07 Sebrings were coming out, I know several of the stories I read about them mentioned that MP3s could be plugged in. Anyone here have a fairly recent Chrysler product that has that capability?

the MyGIG Mutemedia Infotainment System can play mp3's. It has a usb port in the front to also. It will have a 20gig hard drive you can load with MP3(up to 2500 songs), it will have the sirius radio, bluetooth for handsfree and GPS navigation. It also as an aux input jack you can hook you mp3 player to. And also with the sirius radio, it is used for real time traffic control.
