Default What a magazine said?

I read in a magazine where the 2008 Dodge Challenger was in the first year going to have a 5.7L with MDS capability. In a year they would have
a 6.1L SRT-8 version. The car would have a 6-speed manual and would weigh about 4000 lbs.

Would anybody dispute any of this? I try to verify things that I read from multiple sources.

The only thing I would say is why would they wait a year to offer the 6.1L when the concept showed it and not the 5.7L. I would guarantee the 5.7L will have the MDS. If the Ram has it, the Challenger is sure to have it.

Okay if that is the reason, then why would they need to wait when they are using an engine they already built?

With all of the gasoline whoopla, the 6.1L version may not be "MDS ready".

From what I have heard, they weren't going to make a MDS version because the higher output caused problems with the MDS, of course my source is old and they might have been able to fix that complication sense then.

Where there is a will, there is a way.

I would buy an MDS version as long as it was reliable.

That is very true. So far this technology seems like its working; however, I'm not buy any HEMIs with one of those systems until I see people passing the 200,000 mile mark.

That is my standard rule. Majority must last at least 200,000 miles before I will buy an engine and I'm thankful I did it that way with this car. I didn't get the 2.7L model because I didn't see any with 200,000 miles on them yet and then I found out about the sluding problem. I didn't get a I4 Chrysler because I hadn't seen any last 200,000 miles with no major repaires. My car has been very good to me so far (137,6XX miles) knock on wood. Hmmm. I wonder why my head feels as though its been knocked on.

I don't know how old you are but let's assume 200,000 miles takes 5 years to hit (that's alot of driving). Would you wait 5+ years to get a car. Heck, I'm afraid I'll have liver spots and corns by then.

I'm a college student who can drink legally who chooses not to anyways, who is 1 and 1/2 years away from being finished (praise God for this). I have friends who will reach that mileage in three years. By 09, there will be enough people who owned 5.7L MDS 300Cs and Magnums that I'll know if they are reliable or not.

That is my system. I wait 5 years for new technology to be tested to see if its reliable. I do this because I have the brain of an accountant (which I inherited from my dad). I want my cars to be reliable formost. Anything else is extra. Since I'm not rich, I don't want to be in a situation where I will have to pay for expensive repairs.

Liver spots and corns? Either A you are a lot older than I thought or you have one dry sense of humor. Patience is a virtue and it can save all kinds of $$$.

What kind of mileage do you think a 6.1L MDS would get? 17/25 like the 5.7L model?
