Wait a few months to break in and let some nicer products come out...

At which point I'll be removing any cats., possibly installing meth. injection, and addting picking up a tune if there are some nice ones out there (piggybacks or otherwise)

Here are a few ideas I can offer. We took a Dodge Magnum with a 5.7 HEMI and wanted to see how much improvement we could make with just bolt on parts out of the Mopar Performance catalog. Here's what happened; Stock the car was good for 14.30's@ 97mph. We added: Full length headers/cat pipe and cat back exhaust; CAI; mild cam; CNC ported 5.7 heads, upgraded converter and some PCM tuning. End result: 13.10@111mph on real street tires @ 4400pds w/driver. The car has more in it with some additional tuning and better tires. Driveability is very good and the cam has just a slight rump to it. If I were to make a suggestion as far as order of parts I would say: Exhaust first, CAI second, tuning 3rd, cam 4th and heads last. If you don't want to get into the motor, exhaust and CAI will make a nice seat of the pants difference. These are the 2 things most people do for a quick bolt on. The HEMI likes to breathe so anything that eases this will make gains. Besides a power gain exhaust and CAI will actually help your mileage out a bit(if you are driving it civil that is). A fella on Moparts has a 2007 Charger SRT-8 with exhaust, CAI and a tune; Ran a best of 12.20 @ 113mph. Of course this is with the 6.1. The Challenger will be lighter by about 250/300pds so this will help. Cool thing is this is with NO nitrous/supercharger/etc. This is excellent performance taking that into consideration.

Were all these changes done with a stock ECU? No computer software or hardware additions/changes?

Confession time. I knew the AI was "Air Intake", thought the C was for controlled. Cold. Ah.....

Begs the question on the scoop on the chally and whether it will be for engine cooling or air induction?

KVN?

And yeah, what about chips?

To answer the question, yes the PCM had custom programming. If you change the cam that's when it becomes more mandatory than optional. In most cases a CAI(Cold Air Induction) and exhaust will not cause any issues and therefore these are the most popular options. Work on performance calibrations is being done for the car but I don't have a timeframe on that. Don't be surprised if there isn't a "Stage" type kit similar to what is out for the Neon SRT-4 but obviously specifically for the Chally. I run a Stage 2 kit on my SRT-4 and have put nearly 40K miles on it with no problems and a nice gain in performance. Most of the performance parts(especially late model fuel injected) are being designed to offer nice powergains/reliability/durability and driveability.

Now it appears the air scoops are not as "functional" as the original concept structure had them where the hood scoops fed an under hood ducting into a large K&N filter. Now, they appear to be nothing more than "heat extractors" especially since air box is sealed. However, We've also seen they are saying they will have functional cold air kits & hood available through Mopar parts?? Could this be essentially the concept hood and air element?? We'll have to see...

Please define the term "tune" as used here. Im thinking a programer or ?? When my 09 SRT8 gets here in a few months or by spring, I am going to do a Mopar CAI for sure and by then the situation with headers and exhaust should be a little clearer. I wonder how a larger throttle body would affect this situation. Im not really interested in going into the engine,, just bolt ons that can be undone. Id like another 40-50 HP if possible. At least enough to take a GT500 easily. Since its close now that should put it over the top.
Now about those Roush Mustangs,,,

How about a Zex wet kit? All bolt on/in and at a 50# shot, should be very safe on the motor - if you run a slightly cooler plug (okay, 16 slightly cooler plugs).
That should give you the modest HP increase you want for around $1000.00.
