To get back to topic-are there any rumors about a 'body in white' or a stripped down version of the car that may be available for drag racing/SCCA? I had read that there was a chance of Nascar utilizing the ponycar bodies (probably all the same template, but free advertisement!) once the Camaro is out-was just curious if there may be something available dealer direct for drag racing or SCCA work-I will be purchasing a Challenger late next year('09 model) in hopes that options will be available on a more individual basis instead of in packages(I can do without the 'Hill holder' option with the 6-speed)-I would like to get one in Sublime, with a 6 speed, sunroof, stereo, and very little else!! I would have purchased a Magnum or Charger variant if they had offered a manual transmission (I prefer to stir my own gears!) but ended up with the SRT-6 because I couldn't beat it for the price ($27k w/800 miles on it and low 13's out of the box!)

I live in such a hilly area, this feature may actually keep me from getting a fender bender.

I do not think they will have the option flexibility like back in the day but maybe they will have
a configuration you can live with.

I'm still partial to the Hemi Orange. That or Blue or Black. Just not silver.

In total honesty. If they offered the Chally with NO P/W, P/L and a plain AM-FM stereo
Just the SRT8 power train and suspention no frills stripped down road car like in old days and offered it for 20-$25,000.00 I would snap it up. You have a muscle car all them gagets are just that much more weight and make you need more HP. All HP to weight ratio = speed. After all even if all the gadgit add up to only 150#'s how man people in old days would set up a race and stop and say "Hold on I need another person in my car, not enough weight." lol I don't plan on street racing my Chally but I also don't beleive in weighting it down. If I want a caddy I will buy a caddy. Unforcanaty now days you are restricted on what a basic car has.

well then your a fan of the wrong car company cause chrysler's motto is if it has a ton of horsepower it has to weigh the same they say it is name of safety in case you decide to drive your challenger through a wall you will come out without a scratch but we all know it cause they don't want us to have any fun

I agree with you. Most dealers will order the SRT Challenger with every conceivable option to maximize profits. Because of this, I will probably order my SRT without sunroof, navigation, kicker stereo, etc. and save about $6,000.

I think that the majority of us will be buying the 2009 model.

Production of the 2009s starts in July- only 5 months after the 2008 is introduced at the Feb. 3, 2008 Chicago Auto Show. That is why Dodge starting taking orders for the 2008 on Dec. 3, 2007.
