It's easy for me to talk, I'm waiting til 09 anyway, but whatever the issues are, it's better to work them out BEFORE delivering cars to customers. I'd rather wait an extra month for my car, rather than it show up with problems.

Chrysler definitely has to make the Challenger problem-free, because if they don't, the bad publicity could be the thing that finally puts them out of business.

It's hard to believe that Dodge is have problems with the slightly shortened Charger frame that has been used on all SRTs for the past 3 years, especially since the hp remains at 425. If the rumor is true, I am more inclined to believe they are having problems with engines having much higher hp (e.g., Challenger SS 6.4L).

Also, some speciality companies, like HXC Performance are already developing cars with up to 800 hp. HXC wil be touring a 550 hp 'Cuda nationally among the various Dodge dealerships. HXC will be offering a 345, 370, 392, or 426 engine in the 'Cuda. They will come in the following forms: Stage I- all new engine internals, Stage II- Vortech Supercharger, or Stage III- Upgraded Vortech Supercharger with lower compression dished pistons. See:

I cant buy off on the frame flex rumor.

1) The body would seem to have more rigidity than the Charger by nature of the 4" shorter wheel base and the fact that it is a two door.

2) This issue would have come up in test mules with all the cars that are already running around.

3) They would not continue building hundreds of units knowing there was a problem of such a magnitude.

There were pinched wires going to the 5speed autostick that were shorting out the tranny (I believe putting it into limp-mode). The problem was found and the fix has been made. Challengers are back in production. Delays were about a day.

I agree. I'm no engineer, but shorting the LX platforn would make it stronger, less leverage to twist the frame
