Do you all think the car will look just as good with the 18's? Not that I dislike the chrome covers , but it will save me $1,300.00 and new tires will be cheaper. Any opinions appreciated. I want to get this baby ordered.

Just gets down to personal preference... I think the 20's look great on the SRT but others have noted a preference for the smaller wheels to give it more of the old school look. I think both are good... just a matter of preference.

how wide are the 18's and the 20's? Not the tire, the wheel itself. 9 inches? front and back?

Of course the gear ratio that is offered with the 20's (and the six speed) is slightly better for accelleration, probably barely enough to notice but there is something about saying 3.92s as opposed to 3.73s [sm=gears.gif]

18" size is 235/55R18. ~28.17" tall
20" size is 245/45R20 ~28.7" tall

So your extra diameter eats up a little (not all) of the gearing advantage. Extra rotating inertia also chews up some of your advantage, although the bigger tires will help launch harder. Probably the fastest thing would be to order the 20's, then take them off and put some wide 18's on there.

I figured it up the other day. For sake of comparison, with a 1 to 1 ratio at 3000 rpm the 20s with 3.92s would be about 2mph slower and slightly quicker accelerating than the 18s with 3.73s. If they both used the same rear end ratio then the 20s would be about 1 mph faster and slightly slower accelerating. No real way to gauge the effect of the moment of inertia of larger wheels. Probably enough to notice on a track, but not the seat of the pants. Without the steeper gear it could be enough to make performance minded folks like me think twice about the extra 1300 for 20s. Why pay more for a theoretically slower car. In fact the 3.92s are the main reason Im thinking about the 20s, I do slightly prefer the look of the 18 inch size wheel and tire package, although prefer the actual chrome clad wheels. I have considered getting the 20s then switching to an aftermarket 18 down the road. Then I would have to get a power tuner. Only for the ability to reprogram the computer for tire diameter of course. [sm=badbadbad.gif]

Does anyone have comparison photos of the R/T with the 18" wheels vs. the 20" chrome-clad wheels. I can only find pictures with the 20's.
