Definitely a possibility but I wouldn't sit around waiting to buy my Challenger until the economy crashes. I mean if all that happens I could care less what kind of rebate they put on the Challenger, I'll buy something with better mileage. And if you can afford a challenger and the gas when the economy crashes and gas prices explode, then you could have afforded it without the rebate in the first place. Chicken and the egg to me [&:]

Even if you do study history, history will repeat itself anyways.

Hopefully we learn lessons from our mistakes, but sadly you are correct.

You are correct, but just wanted to throw it out regarding the statement that the challenger will never be rebated down. I agree this would not occur for the first few years of production, unless the other variables I indicated happen.

wait though, we can all excitedly get our $500 rebate checks from the fed that will pay down a portion of our Challengers. That will be certain to turn the economy around.[sm=icon_guiness.gif]

Yeah, I had a friend who failed Ancient History 101, he had to take it the next semester; so, yeah, he was doomed to repeat it!

Quote:

You will NEVER see a rebate on an '08 Challenger, period. Most of the Challengers will list for $41,985 with an invoice price of $39,562 and a holdback of $1,239. If they ever sold one at an employee price, it would go for $38,237. These numbers are directly off the order sheet the dealer provided with my order. If this were a normal car and the dealer really wanted to get rid of it, you might be able to get the car at invoice less a percentage of the holdback. But this is not a normal car and these discount scenarios will not be available to the typical buye

Never say never. Economy goes into the tank, inflation hits high and fuel prices go way high and chrysler is trying to sell a tiger tank thirsty engine to folks who don't want a car that gets low gas milage. Sound far fetched, this occurred in the 70's and my dad bought a New york Chrysler with a 440 engine for only 750 dollars. The car was only a year old when he bought it. We could have future fuel shortages as occurred in the 70's.

If you fail to study history you are doomed to repeat it.

If the things you suggest happen - and I don't think they're as far-fetched as you say - then we may very well see rebates on Challengers someday. But the original statement was "You will NEVER see a rebate on an '08 Challenger, period." If there's to be a rebate on the '08 your scenario better happen really fast. Fast enough for a lot of people to cancel their orders.

History may repeat itself, but it won't be retroactive.
