Challygirl - Thank you and Chrysler for making this old Soldiers dream come true. I've waited for this car since 1974 when I was the tender age of 18 years old. I wish only the best for you and all your Chrysler teammates.
I guess my big concern as someone who now owns a challanger and the rest of my family that owns chrysler products, which is almost all of them, what happens to us and our warranties and that jazz. I'm guessing if they get bought out the new company wouldnt have to honor any of chryslers commitments? I'm not business savy so I dont know how that stuff works. Its going to suck trying to get work done and parts for a car if there is no one to honor the warranties and make the parts. I hope i didnt just buy a 30k dollar lawn ornament.

As I read it, the big hang up for the Gov't was the need for financing as well as the job losses. A non-financial services bailout on top of the recent Banking one would not go over well I suspect and would open the door to others in dire straits.
I'm hoping Chrysler hangs in there but have little faith in Cerberus(sp?) to hang onto them. They've been shopping Chrysler as a full entity as well as broken up...not a good sign for a private equity firm that is used to buying companies and spitting them out in pieces for greater profit...

Problem with chopping them up and selling pieces though is that the market overall is in a pretty poor position for any manufacturer to probably be up to buying other than foriegn entities. Forgien manufacturers might want a piece of Chrysler to get a foothold in the US through manufacturing facilities and Chryslers well established dealership network. I am not sure the long term effects would be any better than bankruptcy or a GM buyout...
Dr. Z wasn't really the problem. We can thank Eaton for selling us out to the Germans. If Eaton hadn't been so concerned about his wallet size we wouldn’t be in this mess.

If I were a 30-year employee, Joani, I'd be mad as hell about what's being done to Chrysler. Cerberus NEVER should have gotten control of that company. You can thank Dr. Z and his ilk for screwing an American icon.

Those jobs are going to be lost one way or the other I think because almost all of GM's & Chrysler's cars are unappealing. Without sales a company can't survive. They have had decades of pressure from foreigners and they still make a lot of ugly, bland cars. They will never learn. I don't think they have good management and apparently they never will. Let them die I say. And hopefully another company will make the Challenger.

I wish GM no ill will but I'm glad they won't have the chance to dismantle Chrysler any time soon. Seems Pelosi and crew understand what is at stake and Chrysler is safe for right now.
