Reading through the posts many of you are expressing concerns about what dealers are charging for the Challenger that we are all so excited about.
I manage a medium sized Dodge dealership in Southeast, Ohio and will offer to order the Challenger of your choice for 2009 with any color or options for MSRP. In addition I will offer $200 in speedway gas cards to each buyer if you have to travel more than 200 miles to pick up your car. I am not trying to solicit on this site (I don't know if that's allowed ?) I am simply trying to offer some help to those who are car enthusiasts like myself.
I will require a deposit of $1000 with each 2009 Challenger order and will keep each person up to date on when and where there car will be. Obviously the closer the better but I am simply offering my help for those who do not have knowledgable dealers who are willing to work with you in your area. I encourage you to visit your local dealer first about the new Challenger.

I prefer contact via email first as I get hundreds of phone calls a day but will be glad to chat on the phone if need be.

I can see me going to Ohio. Sounds like a fair offer. I will see what my dealer will do and believe me I will give you a call if he waffles the slightest I hope to find one in Arizona or New Mexico because I want to drive the old Route 66 and drive the Pacific coast highway. Fly in and drive out... watch out wild wild west I'm gunning in your direction. Anybody got any GET OUT OF JAIL FREE cards. Because they did say this thing will do 170

What a laugh...you are not trying to solicit? Yet you prefer email to phone calls...and oh, by the way here is my pitch and my terms. Hey, I have an idea. Why don't you pony up some money for a banner ad to the folks that run the site instead of posting your non-solicitation.

npeifer, many dealers are already compromising on the MSRP. Since the production of the '09s is not limited, the quantity will only be metered by the number of orders and allotment. To offer at MSRP to these folks (not missing the fact you ARE soliciting) is ridiculous. Hell I just ordered an '09 Challenger near Invoice. Can you beat that?
People, the prices of the '09 Challenger will be out in a couple weeks, have some patience.
I have confidence the market will be weak (at least until after November 8^) ) for fuel hungry cars, and dealers are already feeling the pinch. Chrysler was down 21% in sales last quarter, Toyota was down 18% - This is big news.
Just wait, the deals will be there. Dealers are praying the market for this car will be there, and we are praying we can get a car at a reasonable price. This is the perfect storm for buyers. See, it is a dance. Wait for them to lower their price and you can get a great deal.
As an example. for the 2008 Challenger SRT8 Here is something to chew on MSRP is $41,985, Invoice is $39,732 margin is: $2,253 and holdback is $400.
You should be able to walk into any dealer and tell them at a minimum to spit the uplift. Making your car 39,732 + 1,126 = 40,858. If you are firm, honest and fair you could offer them $1000 over dealer cost. There is enough economic concern, as well as weak sales that a smart dealer would take a $1000 uplift (holdback + 600). You could effectively walk out paying 40332 and you would both be happy or close to happy. If dealers can not sell gas guzzlers, many will not put a 40K liability on their lot. So, ... they will wait to get order(s), if they don't see many then Chrysler will be forced to provide incentives. As soon as there are incentives on Challengers, strike while the iron is hot.
Dealer gouging really upsets me. For those in sales we know there is one truth, everything is negotiable.
Sorry, I sort of got on a soap box. But I feel better now 8^)

Yes I can beat a 2009 Challenger near invoice but I definitely will NOT for you.
Wow some of you guys quote as if you KNOW the car business better than me(and you may ?). I will refrain from pointing out many of the obvious mistakes in your post except to tell you that the holdback on the car you are speaking of would be approx. $1200 not $400. You will be hard pressed to find a dealer willing to give up any holdback on ANY car much less a Challenger.
I am sure you are right that eventually these cars will soften up, but as with most new models they will stay warm for a period of time and most 2009's will sell in the neighborhood of MSRP I have a feeling. I'm sure you are aware also that most people have trade-in's and usually a trade is negotiated into the price of a new car.
I have run VinVision for many people here and attempted to answer as many questions as possible for you guys. I have a great relationship with my Sales Rep at Chrysler and have made several phone calls for people with questions on Challengers, not to make a profit but to help people who are as excited as I am to get their new car. I did not join the club in hopes of selling cars but to be a member of a community that is in love with the same car as I am. I hope that most people visit their local dealers and are well satisfied with what they are told and can purchase the car of their choice in a timely fashion. If they cannot do that, I will help any way I can.
Again , feel free to ignore my post but there really is no sense in bashing me just because I run a dealership ? It's like the dealer is always wrong, no matter what I/we say or do.

We should open up a section of the forum where dealers can post what they're offering. It would be a good way to find the best deals and get some sort of competition going for our business. Not to mention we'd be able to post in this section about bad experiences and where NOT to go.

npeifer - re: holdback - your are right - LOL- I was thinking friends and family %1 under invoice, rather than the 3% of Holdback .. Thanks for catching that. So offering a few dollars over invoice still gives the dealer a nice fat profit (given the economy). So please let me correct myself.
MSRP 41,985
Invoice: 39,732
Holdback: 1,200
Uplift: 2,253
So if a person offers $800 over invoice, the dealer gets 2K - that seems like a reasonable profit. I negotiated less.
So as for NOT giving me a deal, that is fine. I got a decent deal I am happy with, and on an SRT - the pricing we are referencing here. But apparently I struck a nerve with you?.? 8^) Didn't mean to make you defensive.
I was not bashing you specificlly, I was making the statement there is enough dealer gouging to go around. Do you argee? Those that participate in forums of enthusiast such as this, I WOULD THINK, would be more sensitive to the interest, economy, and reality to offer better pricing to likeminded individuals. So to offer MSRP is ridiculous, would you not agree?
Look at what Frank Ewasyshyn said, Chrysler will build as many as they can (need to). To me, this kind of implies there will be enough in the market as necessary, meaning allottments may in fact be high. If that is the case, then wouldn't it stand to reason the SE and even possibly the R/T become comodity products like all other cars? ( side bar: Cars ARE a commodity, high priced granted, but commodities none the less. So the incentives and the F&F pricing will come. Of course the appeal to the customer is the "wow" factor; but from your side, it is just another product to sell. That does not mean you wouldn't be enthusiastic about selling this product, however, tell me I am wrong, isn't it just another product?) So we have the same old dance, I offer this, you counter offer that and at the end of the day we both accept "whatever".
Cheers and good selling [sm=icon_cheers.gif]

Let me say that Neal has been the only dealer that I recall to come on this forum and offer what information he had to all members. Several other salespeople jumped in to tell us we didn't know what we were talking about, but those jerks left quickly when they proved they knew less than we did. Neal even offered to run VIN Vision for a number of members, he didn't have to do that. I'm one who appreciates his help, thanks Neal.
