On my way home from the Miami airport (not my neighborhood) I stopped at Planet Dodge and they have the ONLY R/T in Miami thus far. (My own R/T does not arrive until next week sometime.)

My blood was rushing and I got a nice salesman who was not up-tight about giving me a test ride.

My initial impression is FANTASTIC. The easiest way I can rate this car is to use the scale of 1 to 10 (ten being the highest)

EXTERIOR OVERALL = 9 (CHEAP FLIMSY REAR BUMPER COVER IS A JOKE - NO WONDER IT FLAPS IN THE WIND)
EXTERIOR FINISH = 10 (PAINT ALMOST FLAWLESS, TIGHT SEAMS, PERFECT DOOR/HOOD/TRUNK ALIGNMENT)
INTERIOR = 8 (TOO MUCH CHEAP LOOKING MATERIALS)
PERFORMANCE = 8 (THE AUTOMATIC ROBS THE ENGINE POWER - GOTTA RETUNE THIS CAR WITH A DIABLO!)
EXHAUST = 8 (TOO QUIET AT IDLE - DECENT UNDER ACCELERATION - GOTTA GET BETTER EXHAUST)
COMFORT = 10 (GREAT SEATS, ICE COLD A/C, LOTS OF ROOM)
SOUND = 9 (BOSTON SPEAKERS SYSTEM WITHOUT SUBWOOFER IS REALLY DECENT)
CONVENIENCES = 10 (REMOTE START, KEYLESS IGNITION, DECENT TRUNK, NICE CONSOLE, LARGE BACK SEAT)

OTHER COMMENTS = LEATHER FEELS TOO MUCH LIKE VINYL & TWO TONE LIGHT GREY INSERT IS CHEESY LOOKING. STEERING WHEEL TOO LARGE FOR SPORTS CAR, COULDN'T DODGE USE A UNIQUE STEERING WHEEL FOR THIS MODEL?

BOTTOM LINE? TRULY GREAT MODERN DAY MUSCLE CAR LOADED WITH GREAT POWER, LOTS OF COMFORT AND TOYS.

THIS CAR HAS EYES !!! A REAL HEAD TURNER.

THE BARGAIN IN THE CAR MARKET RIGHT NOW. NOTHING FROM U.S.A., JAPAN OR EUROPE HAS THIS APPEAL.

 

What color was it, did it have the chrome wheels ?

 

Black, and yes it has chrome 20 inch wheels. No NAV system, NO sunroof.

 

my brother was part of the focus group for the then new dodge ram back in 1995...at that time what the new truck was compared to the old was a huge leap in advancement...dodge should have used richer interior materials as that is really my only gripe with the challenger..its not 1995 anymore dodge...get with the flow

 

Hrm. I thought I read they were fixing this for the 09s. I guess not. Too bad :/

Have you driven an SRT yet? I'm guessing no, I ask because well ya know the comparability thing would be cool.

 

Sounds great. Considering that it had the Electronics Convenience group and no nav system, this car didn't have a 6-disc cd changer correct?
