New Cuda? A Chrysler Cuda -- or is DCX resurrecting Plymouth? If so, maybe there's hope for a revived Duster, too!

I am just guessing but I do not think the Duster is popular enough this go around. DCX will probably wait to see how the Challenger and maybe 'Cuda do for now.

i hear alot of rumors here, and there has never been any official mention of a 7.1...the current "possible" engine is the 6.4L, which is 392 cubic inches and 500-510hp. there have recently emerged new rumors of a 6.6L, but what we need to keep in mind is that dodge WILL NOT sell a car anywhere near those prices with that kind of horsepower...because then NO ONE would buy the $85,000 viper with 505hp if you could get a 500-600hp challenger for half the price...the viper is their flagship performance car, so unless they beef it up (which is in the works) a ton they will not give the challenger that much power. even if they do beef the viper up, or cancel it, you wont be able to test drive a 510hp challenger for those prices...and im basing this opinion strictly on dodges pricing models over the past few years.

Dont take anything I said as factual quite yet. I'm not trying to start rumors. Just telling what I have heard.

Ive heard a rumor that dodge has been planning to update the viper hp to keep up with its competors to about 615. this would allow another hemi that wouldnt cannablize viper sales (what sales?)

I really wasn't serious about the Duster, Jeremiah, although I always did like those cars. A girl I knew had a '71 and the thing was great to drive during wintertime in Iowa. It had a lot more ground clearance than did either my Challenger or my dad's '70 Ford Maverick, so it was able to go over frozen, rutted snow and ice with relative ease without bottoming out constantly. Also, it worked well whenever heavy rains caused the streets to flood. All in all, a fine automobile.

I agree. The 340 Duster was one of the fastest cars I had ever been in.

The 08 Challenger will have numerous engine options, Including...

Base V6 engine, to compete with Ford's Mustang, Costing around $28,000 - $30,000
5.7 Hemi = $31,000 - $34,000
6.1 Hemi = $35,000 - $38,000
7.1 Hemi = $45,000 - $50,000
I'm sorry but I'm having a little trouble believing the base level V6 pricing. The 5.7L sounds believable. The 6.1L sounds like a dream price, as does the 7.1L. Which V6 would they be using from what you have heard?

I must admit I'm a little sceptical due to the fact that we have heard nothing about the 7.1L. What is the output supposed to be anyways?

the biggest hemi engine I ever heard of was a 6.4 hemi with 500hp, but there may be a 7.1 in development. It does sound like a big jump. Either way only the 5.7 hemi has MDS so that will probably be the most brought model (short of the V6) if it is priced at or under the low 30's

Most of what you will hear on here is rumors. Rumors on the internet is just like rumors that go on around your town. They are rarely true. I will believe it when I see the specs. However, it sounds like larger engine being made is possible. If a 7.1L version is made it will probably not have as high output per liter (or cubic inch) as the 6.4L due to a possible issue that the 6.4L might have with passing emission standards.
