RE: My last thread.
North FL explains it Kris .... ( I used to go to school in Tallahassee )
It all depends where Old_Goat lives. In less populated areas the prices will be more normal ... but if you are talking about cities and highley populated areas ... get ready to pay "Market Value".
There are NO dealers in South Florida asking for MSRP or under. NONE . Not SE , R/T , or SRT. It sucks but it pretty much depends where you live.

Old Goat, I mistakenly thought you were upset that dealers were marking up prices over MSRP on SRTs *and* not being willing to come below MSRP on R/Ts, so that's why I gave an example of an R/T available for less than MSRP. As for how much below MSRP makes an R/T worth it to you, that's your call!
As for the other post about prices in cities, my $1000 off MSRP was in the Philly area. So at least in some city areas, you don't need to pay a markup.

Well, Old Goat, in a few months when the Camaros are out, you're going to be seeing SRTs being discounted BIG TIME due to the Chevys' cheaper price. Till then, though, I fear Dodge dealers' greed will keep driving away people such as yourself. They'd rather let the cars sit on the lot, gathering dust and cobwebs rather than give up what they apparently think is a perfectly justified profit, probably because they're practically having to go out, hit people over the head and drag them into the dealerships to sell the Ram pickups that nobody now wants. It will be interesting to see if ads for the SRT eventually offer $10K or $12K under MSRP like the Ram ads currently state. I wonder how successful the Dodge dealers will be in 2010 trying to sell 2008-model cars that they're now pricing at $20K over an already high sticker price.

RE: My last thread.
I never realized that my new Challenger was made of Gold.......
That's how a lot of dealers seem to view the Challenger, to bad as it sounds a lot like the old
"PT Cruiser Syndrome" is alive and well at many dealerships
(Very surprising in light of the reported GM/Chrysler talks of merger)
Perhaps you should jump at buying the Challenger since it will become a collectors item sooner than later(to bad that it maybe for all the wrong reasons)
There are still good deals out there if you are willing to travel out of your area.......

It's not made of gold. The body is just gold-plated under the paint.

General Motors has set the price of the base LS 2010 Chevrolet Camaro at $22,995 (including shipping costs), with dealers commencing pre-order sales today for delivery early next year. The V6-powered LS will be competing against the likes of the Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger, but at $22,995 it is the most expensive of the trio. The Challenger undercuts the Camaro by $1,000 at $21,995, and the base Mustang V6 is the cheapest at $19,735.
This base LS gets a 3.6L direct-injection V6 rated at 300hp (224kW) and 273lb-ft (370Nm) of torque, as well as a dual exhaust system, 18in steel wheels, Onstar Safe & Sound, XM satellite radio, Stabilitrak electronic stability control, six airbags, and a six-speaker stereo all fitted as standard.
Pricing for the V8-powered SS, meanwhile, has been set at $30,995 (including shipping), and once again is the most expensive of the Detroit 3 muscle car trio. A V8-powered Mustang will set you back around $28,000, while the Dodge Challenger with a HEMI V8 starts at $30,990. The SS gets a 6.2L LS3 V8 rated at 422hp (314kW), as well as heated leather seats, 20in wheels, a premium Boston Acoustics nine-speaker stereo, Brembo brakes and a limited slip differential.
