I have an order in, when will they issue build dates?

If they actually have a "real" 2008 model ordered for you, you will have an order status code and preferrably a VIN. If you just have an order status code, or nothing at all, I would almost guarantee you will be out of luck until the 2009's arrive.

Check your dealer, or better yet Dodge, for status code. If you have a status code "C" I believe you are in good shape from my experience in dealing with staus codes. Nobody will have a VIN code until the car is in production.

I have an invoice and a VIN for the Challenger we're getting, so that's false.

We have an invoice that lists all the specs like the one on allpar.com, except it has this and a few other things such as our dealership address:

VINlists VIN code, don't have in front of me)

If you want to list it as a VIN or a VON it's up to you.

VIN= Vehicle indentification number 17 digits..the serial number assigned to the car when it is produced
VON=Vehicle Order Number 8 digits assigned by Chrysler when order is entered into order system

the two are very different things... the "Invoice" you are referring to is a vehicle order detail and clearly states "this is not an invoice" at least two different places on the document...I have a hunch that the dealer principal would be torqued off if you have been invoiced for a car that hasnt been built yet!!!

Glad I could clear this up for you....

I'm pretty sure it's a 17 digit...I'll see if I can check it tomorrow.

EDIT: and just so you know, I know how many digits are in a VIN. I even know what most of the digits stand for.

Well if you order a car from us, it takes 5-6 weeks from order date to delivery of the vehicle on our lot.
