Default quality build of the challenger

I was getting my oil changed on my 96 lexus with 176000 miles on it and was reading an older consumer report regarding the rating of sedans. They had an accord, camry, suburu and the dodge avenger. The avenger was such a bad build quality that the wiring harness on the driver side was sticking out and the fit and finish was really poor along with cheap plastic material, etc. I sure hope the challenger is put together very well with quality of build and materials in mind. We still have our 1967 dodge 1 ton truck on the family farm and I wrecked our 67 plymouth belvadere when I was 19 or we would still have that car. I went away from chrysler due to the poor workmanship and reliablity issues of the cars.

I sure hope they build this one good. I believe the charger has a lot better rating but that article brought up some bad memories for me and about prior chrysler cars.

If you look at the current chargers there pretty tight. Build should be about the same.

The new one, consumer reports was not very impressed with the ride, handling or build of the car. They did say the engine and tranny were very good.

Consumer Reports is biased, favoring imports. I know....I used to subscribe.
I've also bought cars they rated on both sides of the scales.
They tend to ignore recurring issues with imports that should be reflected in the reviews and ratings. They also tend to rate US cars too harshly. I can't explain why, but it happens too often to be a coincidence.

I won't say anything on consumer reports' fairness since I don't really read them, but pretty much every review or opinion on the avenger and sebring I've heard has been very bad.

They plan on redesigning the avenger by 2010. The designers are saying the same thing you most people sare saying the fit and finish is bad.

I just put the article on this site, here a link to it.

Everybody has a preference as to what is important in a vehicle. For me its the looks or style of the whole package.
For somebody else its safety ratings. I think everyone here will agree the Challenger's looks will blow any Lexus or Camry
out of the water.(they all look the same to me) So what if it does'nt fit perfect-its still gonna turn heads.

My Chyrysler Concorde was a faster, quieter, handled better, better MPG, and was heavier than any of the 15 Ford Tauruses I used to drive.

It was just a better engineered car.
