the culture thing is reality for the Japanese. I recall as my brother-inlaw was getting his masters in engineering, the Japanese students wouldn't dare raise an issue in class, but afterwards they would pose a myriad of questions to fill in the gaps they didn't get during the actual class

Thank you for that interesting article. I could not remember the particulars but knew we basically provided them the know how regarding quality control after the war. The germans always over engineer things (yes I am stereo typing) but come up with advanced technology, although I kid with my friend who owns a porsche and ask him how he likes his tiger tank. BMW made the engines for the FW 190 and of course we know who made the Zero for japan. Times sure have changed for the good. I believe Chrysler made the Shermans, they might have been zippo lighters but were very dependable. I know Chrysler made the M1 Abrams until they sold that division off.

Mac, Zero's interestingly enough made by Mitsubishi later to be strategically partnered with by our Chrysler....it's all circles.....

Yeah, anthropologists have actually studied these dynamics of culture to productivity, etc.

Personally, I think we're all to PC shy for this hypersensitive culture we live in, don't hurt anyone's feelings society.

Man, we (not members on this board, everyone seems pretty relaxed but society as a whole) as a society have to lighten up and laugh at ourselves.

These anthropologists found that certain languages lend themselves to proficiencies applied to specific endeavors. English, German and Japanese are particularly well suited for mathematics and engineering interestingly enough, French (insert joke here and offend people of French origins) and Spanish are well suited for expressive social communications, and so on. Kind of that whole Innuets (wouldn't want to offend any Eskimos by calling'em Eskimos) have 17 words for snow, or whatever the number is.

This soap box dissertation brought to you by a German/Irish/Anglo/Spanish descendant who loves his drink and never met a potato he didn't like.

During WW II Chrysler did make the M4 Sherman tanks. They also received multiple contracts from the government to produce other military vehicles (such as ambulances and trucks), anti-aircraft guns, the Martin B-26 Bomber and B-29 “Superfortress,” bomb fuses, shells, and domestic items like field kitchens and refrigerators.
