Hmm, not quite. Like Skids and roadagent said, it is simply to clear the weatherstripping.

Oh my. Um, this was a joke, right? Can you explain to me, in layman terms, how the window rolling down a 1/2 inch when the door is opened prevents damage from a vacuum created at high speed from this high end performance car???[sm=dontgetit.gif]

I don't know about clearing the weather stripping but corvett been doing it for a few years and there reason is so you dont have to slam the doors. Have you evere had a car tight enough you had to crack a window to shut the door easier.
