Default RE: Questions..

Well, I asked Dr. Z about 6.4L and butterfly valves and this is the answer I got:

"Thanks for contacting Dr.Z. Your message has been forwarded to us for
response.

It?s a fact; Dodge Challenger has officially received the green light
for production!!!

The Dodge Challenger concept was shown in January 2006, with great fan
fare and public response. The all-new Dodge Challenger will make its
debut as a 2008 model, in calendar-year 2008. True to both its
historical and modern concept car roots, the 2008 Dodge Challenger will
be offered as a two-door, HEMI V-8 powered, manual-transmission, and
rear-drive coupe.

DaimlerChrysler has yet to announce the pricing and product
specifications for the 2008 Dodge Challenger. We encourage you to stay
in contact with us at Dodge.com and your local Dodge dealership for
future updates.

For more information on the all new Dodge Challenger, please visit:

http://www.dodge.com/en/challenger/index.html"

Must be a standard computerized answer.

I sent an email about the carbon fiber body and got a real strange response:

Thanks for contacting Dr.Z. Your message has been forwarded to us for
response.

Unfortunately, because this vehicle is still in the concept stage, there
is no pricing or production data available.

To find out more on the Dodge Challenger Concept vehicle, please follow
the link below:

http://www.dodge.com/dodge_life/news...hallenger.html

Many of our concept vehicles have made it to market, such as the
Plymouth Prowler, Dodge Viper, and the Chrysler PT Cruiser. I have
documented your interest.

If you have further questions, please feel free to use the reply link
below. You may also call us on our toll-free number at 1-800-964-0600.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to assist you.

Thanks again for your "Z"mail.

Sincerely,

I can't imagine they will offer an AWD system on the Challenger. This is a retro design. It is RWD.

Patrick, why do you only think it should be a manual car? The original had the torque-flite and a manual. I can understand your thoughts if you were refering to the Viper but this car originally had an automatic and a manual, and if they only offer a manual, I could guarantee it would be a limited production car with larger mark up for sure.

I hope they only make V8, something along the lines of a Corvette (no V6's) that way you wont see everytime Tom, Dick and Harry with a Challenger.....and I don't mind the price being to high like say in the 40's, it makes the car a lilttle more dreamier. You don't dream of a mustang, you just go buy one.....but a Vet, you wish you could have one. I hope the Challenger falls into the category of "I wish I could get that car".........

I would like to first welcome you to the site, then I would like to disagree with an explanation. The Challenger is not meant to compete with the Corvette, it is meant to compete in the pony car class which has V6s for a base engine. The Challenger by nature is going to be more exclusive than the Mustang. It's a Dodge. The styling is more special than the Mustang's.

Dodge already has a "dream car," it's called the Viper. They don't need another. They need to make a car that the middle-class can afford so then they don't lose their touch with the average American. If they develop the image that all they sell are expensive cars that no average person can afford, they will lose sales in other departments. With Plymouth being gone, they need to have a division that the average person can have a feeling of connection with. Chrysler needs to be the exclusive division, not Dodge.

One of the things that helps Dodge is they offer premium cars for a non-premium price. This marketing strategy has worked for them for years. People are not going to like a change in this. They are best to offer this at a lower price where they can afford it. I have no doubt they will charge a higher price than the Mustang, but they would be foolish not to try to compete price wise.

Challneger08, if you wish to disagree with me, feel free to do so. Many do on this site. In fact, I would appreciate it if you would further explain your position. If you think I'm nuts, your won't be the first and I guarantee you also won't be the last.
