At times I'm sure it reads like an SRT world on the web. Popular Hot Rodding posted a great read on the Challenger...the R/T to be more specific and they think it rocks! It is also funny in parts like: Normally, we'd expect two tons of fun to plow through corners (The Challenger R/T is over 300 pounds heavier than our big-block '68 Chevelle), but Dodge's engineers were able to mitigate virtually all of the negative characteristics of the mass.

It's not capacious by any means, but two adults and one child can sit comfortably in the Challenger's back seat. The rear seats in the '10 Camaro and the current Mustang are there strictly for insurance purposes-or for inflicting torture.

oh god here we go again....

greg relax the full package will always be the srt8...and if you like all the products used in the srt8 ...that is the route to go....

but to me if you are an aftermarket freak and like certain brands ect ect go with the rt for the money. well if you have the money you can do the same with the srt8.

BTW - The S550 or S65 is a better buy then a 57S Maybach ...

but... the Maybach is still a much better car.

 

yea rudy, the article never said the rt was a better car, just better bang for the buck.

rt bone stock runs 13.5 , if you compare performance alone 13.5 is great for the amount you save. Now if we go into other things then of course srt8 is even better.

and rudy your comparison is bad, that is like saying the challenger rt and srt8 are great buys but the viper is still the better car.

 

As I have said before, buy the car you want. There are so many variables with performance, what you can afford, insurance rates, fuel economy, etc, etc. It all comes down to this: get the car that you will enjoy for the long term (ten years no depreciation costs on a new car). I am going for an R/T and that is what I want. If I had the extra money and really wanted the performance end of the deal, SRT makes a lot of sense. No sense in arguing, flaming, or going ballistic over someone making a different choice than what you would do.

 

Sounds a lot like what some owners were saying back in the 70s......There was always a big debate was to whether the 426 Hemi was worth the price over a 440 Magnum......answer.....depends on the owner, and always has and always will......If you want a turn-key 13 second car...buy an SRT (426 back in the day). If you could live with a little slower times and wanted to spend less money...then an RT (440 Magnum back in the day) would be a better choice. Back in the day, if you wanted the ulitmate in horsepower....it was the hemi, but with many tradeoffs...hard to keep in tune, not the easiest to work on, didn't really like everyday street use, and perhaps the biggest drawback....PRICE....Luckly for us, we have two Hemis to choose from that have none of the drawback that the 426 came with. An individual should buy what you want and can afford...doesn't matter what others think.....after driving and living with the SRT..I wouldn't have been happy with an RT...but that's me.....Love have the king of the hill.....BUT like "mac said.."No sense in aguing, flaming or going ballistic over someone making a different choice than what you would do" (I don't want everyone driving an SRT....so buy an RT)
