SE performance
For those of you who are wondering....
The streets were dry tonight so we were able to play around a bit with the SE.
I'd be willing to go up against a V-6 Mustang with it. Having both cars, I have to admit the Mustang sounds a lot cooler when you really get on it, but the Challenger would beat it, especially in a roll-and-go situation.
The acceleration of the Challenger is quick enough and the car rides so smoothly that you actually have to watch your speed on the freeway. You can find yourself very easily going 85 without realizing it (an especially bad situation if you're closing in on the rear end of a cop car, as we were when we first got on I-35).
Overall, the SE performs very much like the 318-cid Challengers of the 1970s. It has a good amount of power for a daily driver. You obviously aren't going to want to take on an R/T or an SRT, but the SE more than holds its own in the V-6 world.
Also, tonight was Question Night from the general public (those poor unfortunates who don't have new Challengers). The best one came from a 14- or 15-year-old kid in the parking lot of the grocery store we stopped at (his dad had sent him over): "How fast does that thing go?" I was honestly able to tell him that I had no idea (which sounds cooly sinister), since I've only had the car two days and it was still in its break-in period. His eyes got really wide and he told me what a cool car it is. I agreed with him.
Also, my wife was asked if the SE was a new Barracuda. She said no, but that she has nicknamed it The Great White since it looks like a land shark. [8D]

Classic!
I've taken my Great White out on about 9 trips and every time I stop people gather around it or ask me what it is.
most people think it's a restored car at first.
Two guys in a Lamborghini were racing around me in Hollywood today for about 4 mins checking out the car and then gave me a thumbs up before they took off.
So many people were shouting as I drove down Melrose today too! crazy!
Still haven't seen another 09 out here yet.......love it!
Mine looks pretty damn close to the 1970 White Barracuda I saw parked at the Golden Gate Bridge last year from memory.

Is there such thing as an aftermarket supercharger sipping gas? I could live with that, though it would probably be counteracted by the higher octane that you have to put in it.
No, but those police cars are modified to get those 250 hp and weight less then the Challenger I'm sure.

The old repair manuals say the 340 had the same HP (275) but the torque was at 340ft lbs for the 340 in 69-70 model years. They sure do run good and ride smooth don't they?...........JB.

You would loose a little MPG and yes upgraded to 93 octane. Also depends on how heavy your foot is!
