woah woah woah....get your facts straight...you have guys blowing their halfshafts with stock motors...

390hp(dynos)
That happened to -1- out of -6,400- cars.

There has been dyno readings for the SRT that put 455hp at crank.

And comparing trim levels really makes just no sense this is my last post in this thread ...

Go to youtube and look up Challenger R/T track vids and show me one under a 14.0 with a link ....

The R/T is the medium model , it's fast , it's geroueous , but it isn't a 6.1 and it isn't as fast and straight line you will never have a stock r/t beat a stock srt. so that's just fact ...

1 out of 6400? tell the LX owners that there are only 6400 of them with those rear ends....300cs.........chargers ....magnums....all fall in the SAME exact category as the challenger....so respect and it has been proven that he rear end is the weakest link in the lx cars.

I agree the SRT should be quicker. But you get a goon behind the wheel of the SRT and a good driver behind the wheel of the RT...it will be a race. Then throw in the 6 speed factor and an inexperience driver, it could get ugly in either car.

I have seen where a few SRT's have ran in the high 12's, and on another board an RT owner has ran 13.2 stock. So my 13.12 is not abnormal. I also have driven both when deciding which to purchase....and me being strictly a quarter mile guy, I could not justify the $8K difference between my RT and the SRT I drove.

My only point is...the gap in straight line performance is not that great. Granted the SRT has alot of other nice features, it all boils down to what you are looking for. Both are great cars!!

I was going to post but you all answered the questions. I too think the R/Ts are under rated at 370-375 as the Rams 5.7 is rated much higher. And I would get the SRT-8 if I had the choice and not include practicality. So an R/T for me But with that...much respect for the SRT-8s. I too give the nod to the SRT-8 in the performance end. I just wish Dodge would of offered a stripped down version of the SRT-8. But options are where the money is made, so they option them out. But if are in a stock SRT-8 and in NC this summer... watch out for a heavy modded R/T that looks stock
