If there are people that really think the r/t challenger is faster then the top of the line model in a straight line they should be shot , if you think it's a drivers race , you should be shot. I wonder if Camaro v6 owners will fight the SS owners over which is faster lol or how about Mustang GT's to the KR , I wonder if the Mustang guys argue beneeth trim levels . I really know they don't ... this is the only car where I see people fighting over which TRIM is fastest.

I think we were talking about racing here. I've seen lots of fast cars get beat by going up in smoke at the line or missing a gear. Drivers are an important part of the equation in a real race setting. I am not arguing that in stock trim, the SRT-8 is the clear winner if driven capably. Remember, I said stock.

 

I agree!! There is much more to racing or even getting the potential out of a faster car. Simply dropping the cash down on the counter for the "top of the line" does not guarantee you are going to win in a real world race. Now if you just want to dyno race or pound keys on a key board....then that's a different story. What Rudy refuses to realize is the performance in these two cars are close (in a straight line)....and it COULD be a drivers race whether he wants to believe it or not....especially from a dead stop. I have seen RT's runing low 13's to mid 14's.....why is this? Because there are many other factors than just the car itself. I guess some-one should shoot me next time I am at the track running my RT running low 13's. LOL.

Ok, so I strap two sidewinder missle rocket motors to my 67 VW bug and will take on all comers! Bad shifters, Hondas, SRT, RT whatever, bring it on! Folks, cant we keep discussions to fun bantering, questions and intelligent answers? Must everything be so combative? Lord almighty, just break out the Colt .45s pace off the 25 feet and draw already. So many times we have been down these avenues and we have yet to see many time slips, dyno sheets etc. Want to know whats quicker? Go to a strip and find out, settle it like men (or women) where a definitive answer can be attained.

Bottomline, is that a manual trans by itself does not make any car faster....those that feel this way are only kidding themselves.
The manual simply adds variations to the equation when it comes to the outcome of a race...Not everyone is a Ronnie Sox and shifts with consistency each and every time...
