6 speed is the only option for me when I buy my challenger.

That was the only thing that kept from getting a Charger when they came out. I could have dealt w/ the 4 doors, but the auto...nyet comrads.

They should really consider offering a manual for the charger and the 300 if they can do so in an affordable manner. Heck, you could even offer it as a paid for limited edition option, I'm sure they'd have takers.

I suspected the 6 speed would cost extra. Given that it's available as part of the "Trak Pak" with the manual, fancy pedals, limited slip, and maybe some other fancy stuff, it was pretty much inevitable. $700 isn't bad though, I can live with that.

After owning my first automatic ever, I have sworn that my next car will be manual. So it is a must. I would not buy the car if a stick were not offered.

Yesterday, on allpar.com, a Brampton factory worker said that 75% of the cars built were Challengers- close to 80. The Hemi Orange ones were said to "really stand out even coming down the asssembly line."

Also, I found it interesting that the same company in Windsor that is applying the hood decals is also applying the numbered dash plates.

So back to my conspiracy theory. What if Dodge is unsuccessful building all the 2008's before the mandatory shutdown? Will the 2008's after the mandatory shut down be titled as 2009's even though they are still part of the "limied (sic exclusive) run" 2008's? Most likely. How will those who get the 2009's formerly 2008's feel about their exclusivity? Perhaps the reason the Hemi-Orange was extended was due in part to Dodge realizing early on it may have a production time issue and extended the "limited run" color to 2009 as well? (At least for the remaining 2008's that are now called 2009's)

Just a conspiracy theory folks, no need to panic (yet). I am just passing time.

Has anyone taken a look at all the comments in RLD - those folks are gett'in down right U-gly. If I were Dodge, I would do two things. 1. Make a formal statement (come clean and address the main concern of the limited edition run cars). and 2. Talk candidly with all those who purchased the 2008 limited run vehicles and find out if they would be just as happy if their car were titled 2009 but hold authenticity of being part of the 2008 limited run.

Has anyone seen a pic of the numbered dash plate?

(If this has already been posted, I apologize).

93 BMW 325i. Love the car, but I would love it so much more with a real shifter. I just miss the more connected feeling you get with the car (and the engine in particular) when you shift for yourself. Plus this particular auto has a very tall 1st gear, so it makes what is otherwise a quick car sluggish off the line.

I will say the auto has been trouble free though. Car has 138K miles (I got it with 90K) and other than changing the fluid and filter, it has given no trouble.

73Cuda, I think you're right at this point...don't squander the good feelin' over an un-necessary tightlipped mum's the word philosophy...the whole idea is to control the conversation, and they are certainly in a position to do this, before it slips into damage control or a perception problem more severe than it is at present.
