I agree with you jeffko.I wrote a letter to Chrysler Lcc customer service to mention how difficult it is to buy or get a new Dodge Challenger. It is ridiculous to buyer not to know when our vehicle will be built. We need a weekly Press conference from Chrysler about the Challenger. Here in Quebec the 2008 SRT are for sale at[>:] 70,000.00$I put a deposit august18 2006 for a 2008 & this is the price I have to pay to get one.I reorder a 2009 SRT & still in BX status.[:@]

As for the manuals. I heard there WERE issues. But they resolved them back on the 25th or so of August. Its good to see at least one has been built so far. That tells me that they have the parts available and are starting on the first group. My build date states "The week of 8 Sep" so Ive got a good feeling that I will see "I" status before the week is out.

I think there might still be issues if only one has been built as far as we can tell, but I could be wrong. All I know is that my R/T manual is still sitting in D and I feel myself getting more and more irritated as days keep passing and nothing happens.

My 2009 R/T went back to BG from BX again. Ordered 26 June. I also don't understand the time lag on getting these cars to the buyers. I custom ordered a 2003, first year production, Mazda RX8 in July and had it on Sept 12, from Japan!

OK, here is my take on the whole scheduling or build order scheme. I've had conversations with various people, both in and out of the car business. There appears to be a number of factors that come into play. Factor 1 - Geography. Car manufacturers apparently tend to produce and send new vehicles where then can get noticed by larger populations or news agencies more quickly. Case in point, California. My dealer says historically many new vehicles are routed to California for attention, photo ops, celebrities, and so forth. Additionally, major cities like Miami, Detroit (for obvious reasons), and surrounding areas... again for attention. He told me when the Prowlers were first introduced, California had bunches of them MONTHS before any appeared in PA.

Factor 2 - Dealership size. We're all sure this plays a part because Dodge (as well as all manufacturers) want to keep the dealers that move more volume supplied.

Factor 3 - Sold orders versus dealer orders. Nobody seems to know had the priorities work here. It may depend on whom has what influence or the pressure applied by the District Managers.

Factor 4 - Public demand. See, we've got to be in there some where.

Factor 5 - Manufacturing issues. Parts availability, technical issues, manufacturing breakdowns, maintenance etc...

Unfortunately, there are things that aren't in our control or Dodge. The best we can do is be patient and as the 08 owners say "it's worth the wait!"

My R/T arrived today. Have the dealer do a few mods and she will be delivered to me tomorrow morning. Took less than two months. Ordered on July 18th and took delivery on Sept. 10th. Excellent!!!

Next step Zoomers exhaust.

Congrats on the R/T. Two months for your order? My SE is taking just over three months. Must be because of the SE's superior quality.
