Why the rush to hurry up and wait for the 09's?

I wholeheartedly agree with not buying a car in its first year. I got an 04 GTO, thinking I'd be safe since the car had been out for a few years in Australia and surely had all of its issues already worked out... WRONG! That car ended up having more issues - one of them downright dangerous - than I ever thought possible. Thankfully I leased the car and I was able to walk away from it.
And that's not limited to American makes either - I replaced the GTO in Sep 06 with an all-new 07 Camry SE V6 (wife's idea, not mine), and while that car hasn't had the serious issues that the GTO had, it's still had its fair share - squeaks and rattles here and there (not expected for a Toyota), plus the transmission slips between 3-4 upshift when the car is cold... so yeah - that's another reason I'm holding out for an 09 Challenger. I've been a guinea pig too many times already with all-new cars.

I am waiting for the end of 2009 and will be wishing or dreaming for the 6.4L to appear. We shall see.

EDIT: I just checked out RedLetterDodge.com. Hemi Orange for the '09 SRT8 appears to be true. Great news!!

I'll be waiting as well. If the 6.4 comes to fruition by then, I'll probably be swayed up to the SRT if not, I'll R/T out.

The August 2008 issue of MOPAR Action stated that the 6.4 would appear in 2010- possibly on a limited production model.

bro at your age the 5.7 is enough, but if you want more theres always going to be more...(think after-market) I think a lot of people here would agree with that...some would probably say the 6 is enough at 16. If I were you bro I'd at least get in a Hemi Ram and feel it out, that'll be a good idea of what it'll feel like....but you'll go a bit faster...

I barely survived my teens knocking around in a 4 banger. Everyone handles driving responsibility differently at different ages; but, personally, there's no way in heck, I'd let my 16 year old be driving 400+HP.

RE: Why the rush to hurry up and wait for the 09's?
my teen driving was in an 85 Volvo 240 wagon. And that was some of the most insane driving I ever did. All the crazy stunts I had to pull to make it keep up with my friends....
400hp is a lot for 16, but if it's your own money, nobody can tell you otherwise (except the insurance company that charges you 1000 dollars a month). If I could have bought a 400+hp car at 16, I would have in a heartbeat. And if they'd offered a 600 hp, I'd have taken that too if I could. So DKCHallenger, you're showing good self control to nobly forgo the 6.4.
