Chrysler Vows To Continue Incentives as Sales Plunge 19 Percent
AUBURN HILLS, Michigan — Chrysler on Tuesday said it will continue to offer "special 'New Day' vehicle packages" that bundle zero-percent financing in April. Chrysler posted a 19 percent drop in March sales, the industry's biggest slide for the month.
Chrysler's incentive program focuses on zero-percent financing. The deal is good for up to five years for 2008 models and six years for 2007 models. The automaker reported total March 2008 sales of 166,386 versus 206,435 in March 2007. Sales of Chrysler SUVs and trucks took a pounding. Sales of the Jeep Commander were down 43 percent compared to the previous year, while sales of the Dodge Dakota dropped 36 percent.
"We are in a period where the public hears news about the economy every day, and it is clearly having an impact on our industry," said Jim Press, Chrysler vice chairman and president, in a statement.
What this means to you: Bad news for Chrysler is good news for you. This should be a good month to take advantage of extended deals on Chrysler products. — Anita Lienert, Correspondent

Chrysler has got to stop this incentives garbage. The more they do this, the more customers will expect it. They need to instead spend the money on fixing the models. The Commander needs something that will give it half-way decent fuel economy as does the Dakota. They both could use a better V6 (perhaps a 4.0L V6) to make it more competitive and better interior.

They need to make cars that are better looking and more exciting - i.e. cars that people want to buy (besides the Challenger).
I wish I could be in charge of Chrysler. I'd turn that company upside down.
I would make the coolest cars and rock the car world.
