the fact that this is a limited edition car and they are offering incentives on it just shows the start of how bad things are gonna get for these V8 powered cars you would think they would have no problem selling them as is i have a feeling 09 SRT-8's are gonna be sitting on lots not moving

Im sorry I dont see challengers seting on any lot .There are over 10000 orders and only 6400 cars not to mention all the people that will just buy one when its seting on the lot . The mustang has ben around for years now and some of the luster has worn off thats all . I have a shelby gt350 I drive right now but its going up for sale any day it gets lots of looks but its still just a mustang with a different hood and wheels and a supercharger . The challenger is something many people have waited years for and I personaly believe its going to take alot of sales away from the mustang for a number of reasons .

I have a 05 GT, and it really is a nice car. I would love to have a little more power and better handling. And that's where the Bullitt comes in. If I did not have my eyes set on a challenger in 2010 I would be lining up for one. A green one though, a black one is no Bullitt mustang imho.
And about V8's remaining on the lots... Well, only time will tell... But with a high fuel economy usually comes crappy road handling and comfort. I'd rather pay a little more and cruise @ 17-18 mpg city. (most likely 15-17 in a challenger R/T manual). And I am hoping there are a lot of people like me. Because I would hate to see those wonderful V8 Fords, Chevy's and Dodge's go...
I howevercan't deny the growing amount of econo-boxes on the roads though... I've seen a couple of Smarts on the road already... Bah, the greenies are taking over.

I don't think it's the greenies as much as it is people just trying to save money on gas. The thing that gets me about the Smart cars, though, is that for what they are -- basically little telephone booths on wheels, the mileage isn't THAT great. If they got 70 or 80 mpg, I might see driving something that looks like that. But according to their own web site, they're rated 33/41. The old Geo Metros used to do that good and they were more normal-looking cars.

Justice, I hear you loud and clear. The funny thing is a friend of mine who has a Mazda 3 is currently looking at getting either a Mach 1 or a GTO because he is sick of the bad ride quality of compacts. The mileage a person gets also depends on the way you drive it, that is why I've been able to get over 30mpg with my Intrepid that was originally rated at 26mpg and I'm more than comfortable in the process.
