World-wide Gas Crisis
In today's newspaper, there was a report of the world-wide gas crisis. While $4 per gallon is a shock to Americans, others would think we are paying bargain prices.
In Brazil gas is $5.67 per gallon. France is $9.66 per gallon. And Turkey is $11.29 per gallon. These prices have caused massive strikes and protests from car owners, truckers, and fishermen.
On the other hand, drivers in oil-rich Venezuela are paying only $.12 per gallon!
In response, production of hybrid and flex-fuel models are soaring, and manufacturers are severely cutting back on trucks and SUVs.
After us motorheads get our Challengers, I wonder how many Dodge will sell to the general public that is reeling from escalating gas prices? It is the 1970s all over again! Can you say "ground-hog day?"

We have had several warning shots fired over the years and yet we still went with the cheap answer for the time. But I have hope and belief in the American spirit. I know we will come up with an alternative and with the smart people we have we will see it soon. Will there be hard times... more than likely. But we have the technology and the resources to find an answer and we will

The Energy Administration stated today that the average American consumes 1-2 gallons of gasoline per day!
When you get your Challenger, will you be over or under this average?

In Brazil gas is $5.67 per gallon.
We could do this too, and have the members of OPEC become less in control or influential in our affairs.

There is no gas crisis whatsoever.
Canada alone has vast amounts of oil which is merely more expensive to extract than Arab oil.
I'm sure everything will be worked out one way or another and everything will be fine.
Modern science and technology will eventually solve any problem.
Everything is great.

When the Challenger comes... anybody's guess...
Answers are there. And they will be expensive. I would rather pay a farmer 4 $ a gallon than to pay people who hate our guts 3 $. No quick fix but we are resiliant and have a way of finding solutions. We have been doing it for all our existance and I feel we will find a solution to this problem. Sometimes we need a check to challenge us and make us use our vast amount of untapped intellect. We can do this and I'm betting we will.
They said gas hitting the big $4.00 would be when it really makes its impact. And I agree. Unless I strike it rich soon I'll be forgetting about the R/T. The $5 and $6 marks are just too easy to see now. I actually see this possibly effecting the V6 models moreso than the R/T and SRTs. I tend to think V6 buyers are more budget minded in the first place where RT and SRT buyers could probably afford gas if it was $8. The people who intended to buy a V8 all along will still do so where people looking at the V6s will turn towards smaller cars now.
