Why folks want to purchase a challenger

RE: Why folks want to purchase a challenger
The combination of style and power is hard to beat. Ever since seeing the concept in person, I've wanted one. I just hope they find ways to take some weight out of it though for production. As long as it's fast enough I won't mind the weight too much though.

Even w/ some minor changes to the body for production i'll still be sold but if they tweak the performance in a good way i wont be able to sleep til april!

jjmpb, I don't think it will be weird at all with our new Challengers out there. I think it will be more like a beautification program rolling around the country

In 1976 I bought my first Challenger, a 1972 340 4-speed Rallye TB3 Superblue. Still in the garage today. Bought it a couple of days after I turned 18. (My parents were so impressed[:-]) Always dreamed what it would be like to order "My Own", the way i wanted it..Also had to endure 30 years of my buddies being able to buy new Camaros and Mustangs(Altought my Turbo II Lebaron embarassed them several times) Well 30 years is a long time to wait....But it looks like it might well be worth the wait. Sure will be nice to see Challengers rumbling around on the streets again. And to my buddies....Lets go play now!!!!

I also forgot to mention the memories of being a kid and going to the local race track and seeing my uncle jack mccoy race. He was a two-time Grand National West Champion and had a record 54 nascar victories way back in the 60's. And of course he always raced a dodge charger.. man that car was fast. Here is a pic of him at riveside in his dodge.

FOX is already gearing up the advertising blitz for the 2008 Daytona 500, so SPEED will be airing the classics soon to get us all primed.

Fire'em up! Took me awhile to get hooked on Nascar....but it finally took! What a great vehicle to get me back to football season in August! Then I get two things I get to watch!
I remember the Busch car series being Pony cars...but seems kind of odd that Dodge wouldn't promote the Chally in Nascar Nextel? Right? I mean the Avenger (a non-coupe medium sized car would get billing...seems strange that a performance coupe wouldn't be slotted for the throngs of people watching to stir the buzz a bit more, right?)

Personally, I don't see it happening for Nextel Cup anytime soon (if at all) because of all of the retooling they just did with the Car Of Tomorrow (Sprint Cup bodies), but it COULD happen with BUSCH in a year or so.
There's a LOT of money, time and energy sunk into new packages when they come out - especially in the wind tunnel - so the teams aren't eager to change very often.
Bring on the 2008 NASCAR season! I'm ready.
