REPORT: 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 not sold out, but bring your wallet
ORIGINAL: Paladin06
Kicking Tires also reports that 2009 Challengers will be available with a 380-hp, 5.7L HEMI V8 sporting cylinder deactivation technology, which we may see at the New York Auto Show in late March. A base model with a V6, however, seems unlikely to appear from what we hear.

anyone know what the MPG on that motor is?
It's probably the same that is in the Charger and the 300c
ORIGINAL: Carbon
Sweet, that is the version I've been waiting for!!

The current 5.7 HEMI in the Charger/300/Magnum is MDS only. The refreshed motor/engine will have VVT.......manual will NOT have MDS, but the autostick WILL have MDS on this engine.
The auto should be comparable (if not a slight bit better) MPG to the current 5.7L auto MDS drivetrain. Manual trannys should see a slight drop in MPG - slight. The 6th gear should help overcome most of the loss of MDS if driven with economy in mind.
I wonder if Chrysler will be smart enough to capitalize on the tooling up expenses for new tranny's and start to offer the Charger and 300C. Again, you'd think they might get a little more out of the platform as well and offer a 300C two door and finally a Charger!
