2008 or 2009?

Not sure where you get your info from, but a car ordered is a car sold as far as LLC is concerned. If it sits on the lot, its due to dealer greed, not the economy. Therein, 09 production begins in ten days and the numbers made will reflect the number of orders. As far as what gets built first, again, its dependent on whats ordered. Why would you NOT build one trim level over another? If the order is placed, the car is sold as far as LLC is concerned. The restructuring LLC has undergone allows dealers to order what they can sell and arent being forced to inventory slow movers. No more gee, if you want a Charger R/T on your floorplan, you,ll have to sell 5 Caravans to get that car. I dont know how many SRTs Dodge will cap production at, but it makes no sense to make fewer of the 09s than the limited edition 08s - especially because of GM not making a Z28 Camaro. Wouldnt that be potential for more sales of the Challenger SRT? Isnt Ford still making Shelbys? Will they cut back production because GM axed the Z28? Sorry but no Z28 means more market for the SRT Challenger.

Wow! Talk about bleak, despair, gloom, and all that. Its a total shame that rumors get so inflated and then people work it into grief. Back in ol Navy days we called this messdeck gospel. I for one am sitting back and waiting for my 09 SRT. The dealer said I had a firm order, the Dodge folks said I have a firm order and that I WILL get an SRT. Now, cry wolf, cry about the company falling apart, talk about this and that. But, dont forget, Chrysler right now has the advantage over the other two in the fact that they have a better selection of small cars and fuel efficient cars then either Ford or Chevy. So I would make that ASSUMPTION that GM and FORD will go down the drain before Chysler will. Or wait..is that may be just an ASSUMPTION?
Actually, Ford and GM have more fuel effecient small cars. Chrysler/Dodge do not even have 1, maybe the Caliber, but that is not small. And there is a reason why Chrysler is offering $2.99 gas, because they need to boost gas mileage somehow and that is the only way they know how to right now.
Not to be gloom and doom, but the writing is on the wall.

In the car collecting world, 1st year models are the most desirable. But in this case, buy it to drive it. I am not a gambling man, so I would rather have mine now than wait until later as you never know with the way Dodge and the economy are going these days. You cant put a price on driving pleasure.

So, assuming they only build 4,000 2009 SRT8s, wouldnt that make the 09s more of a limited edition than the 08s?

For 2009 SRT-8 are limited to 3800 according to our insider BUDMAN. Also, each dealer is only getting a certain allocation based on overall srt-8 past sales Challengers, Chargers, 300c, Jeep, Viper, Magnum. As we have all seen with the 2008s, Dodge really dropped the ball as most people who ordered 1st are getting their cars LAST. The dash numbers mean nothing, no logical order on how the cars were badged and the number is not even recorded on the window sticker. Dodge is also buiding the 2009s in bunches. So all SE and automatic R/t are going to be built first. Dodge also wants to keep the srt-8 a limited production car, unlike mr. Shelby building over 20,000 gt500 and flooding the market. Right now, Chrysler LLC is clueless how to run a car company and I would not be surprised if they file BK and break up the company as none of their cars are fuel efficient and their future is very bleak.

Skids,
My 08 should be here in late August...it's at the port in Maryland right now. I've been trying to get shipping info out of my local ENCS shop but no luck yet. I am in the Republic of Georgia so commo hasn't been the best and my time hasn't been as free!
So you are still getting the 09, right? And what about Moss...did he jump to an 08 or is he still going with the 09?

Yup, even if I had wanted the 08, I didnt move fast enough. I REALLY want the Manual Transmission. When I got to Germany I purchased a 93 BMW 318is for a cheap "get around" vehicle. That little 1.8L really cooks for a 15 year old car! Anyway, it has a manual, and I had forgotten how much more fun they were to drive. My 06 Ram had an automatic, and I never really "fell in love" with it as I did with my 98 Dakota with the 5-speed.
As for Moss, he sent me a PM saying he is getting the Black one. I can't wait to see it, as I still haven't seen one in person yet. Congrats on getting to port. Now there is what? A 3 week boat ride? I hope it all goes well for you and you and it gets to Italy soon.

OK here is some good info on buying a 2008 SRT 8 I too have tried many dealers in the NJ NY PA tri state area for the last year and no luck at all and now Im getting calls from several of them with SRT 8 to sell the best being MILLER DODGE in Springfield PA with 3 Challengers 1 Orange and 2 Black and hes willing to talk 1000 over MSRP down to MSRP and I think he is hurting and needs to sell these cars and as for factory orders a lot of dealers put in orders with phony customer names just to get Challengers to bid out to the highest bidders now they are sitting there not moving just like all the Challengers on E BAY GOOD FOR THE GREEDY DEALERS IS ALL I SAY Fat Cat
Here is another rumor to add to the bunch I live in an Active Adult Community of semi retired and retired people and my neighbor lady just retired from Chrysler LLC and was secrtery to a Corporate VP and she told me that there is no limit on the SRT 8 models for 2009 and they will build as many as they can sell and that yes actual customer sold orders from dealers will be built first but intermixed with the need to build employees cars and fleet models and the scheduling has noting to do with vin numbers, body styles, options , paint color or anything other than what they can deliver to get the money back as soon as they can so business is the build status above all else. Take this for what its worth I believe it but it is only one persons word and not an official Dodge news statement she also said there is a small delay on the new 6 sp standard trans sorry for no puntuation as the post doesnt like it Fat Cat
