It really depends on what happens with gas prices and the economy. They are both cyclical. I lived through the gas crisis of the 70's. I am telling you, it was considered absolute fact that V8s in cars were done, finished, going away.

In the 70s, Chrysler got burned with the pony cars. Think about it, from 68 through 70 the big 3 made a killing on pony cars and muscle cars. But by 73 the market was flooded with used musclecars no one could afford to insure or put gas in. Chrysler killed the Cuda and Challenger when the market was at absolute bottom. In 75, the Trans Am was the only thing that resembled a real musclecar, and they started selling like hot cakes, even before Smoky and the Bandit. So I hope this time around they won't jump ship too soon. Easy for me to say, I don't have to answer to shareholders.

I agree, probably no Challenger convertible. That would be a hard sell. But never say never, and if they build it, buy one, and drive it only on nice days.

 

Let's hope that before they shut the doors on the Challenger and sell the Viper off to another company that they give us an SRT10 Challenger!
