I don't think anyone is buying the SRT based on it's EPA rating....
No, but admittedly it's one of the reasons I DIDN'T by the SRT.

i can respect that, but I think thats a weak reason in the long run.
don't you think you'll be driving the car just a little bit more cause your gallon goes the extra miles; so you end up putting more wear on the car (cause it can go more miles to a tank), having less fun (because its slower), spending the same amount of money? thats just my logic.

Personally, I don't care about MPG, I just make sure CRUSH has 3/4 tank or more.

you never go below 3/4 of a tank? your joking right? is there a reason behind this or just a preference gig?

cuz i like to stay under half tank better for weight i think. haha

Actually, trev, I only have space for two cars. Hence, both of necessity have to be "daily drivers," since if my primary one (2000 Mustang, V-6) is down, I have to use the Challenger. Thus far, I've pretty much confined my Challenger driving to weekends, but the time will come when it has to become the primary car. Hopefully, at some point, I can get another SE Challenger (probably a used one) to use every day and keep the one car I ever actually ordered from the factory as a semi-museum piece.
As to the power of either the R/T or SRT-8, I at one point was half-owner of a 68 Coronet R/T with a 440 Magnum. I did pretty much everything I'll ever want to do performance-wise with that car. Since then, virtually everything I've had (aside from my 70 Challenger with a 318) has been either an inline- or V-6.

Don"t you think maybe the extra power might cause one to drive more... and drive it harder..??
putting more wear on the car and spending exponentially more on gas..??

for sure, I was just trying to hear out your reasoning on that.
sorry if I made you feel like you needed to justify your actions. i know its really not my place to say anything. I was mostly thinking out loud. but yeah i hear you on that.

I had a bad experience long ago when I ran out of the gas. The Cali HWP, gave me a ticket and then charged me $5 a gallon for 5 gallons of gas and this was 1980. So I have a standing rule 3/4 or more in all my vehicles all the time.

It's also good rule of thumb when you have a young one that likes to drive a car with fuel injection to the big E on the gas gauge....as injectors don't like being run dry....$$$$$
