Do you think Dodge is going to build these beyond 2008-2009?

Good question. Only time and how well the car sells will tell. With the rising cost of fuel and stricter fuel economy demands from the government the Challenger may only be around 2-4 years like before...

Hope they build them at least untill 2010. I will be in Germany and will be able to order one through AAFES. I actually move there this May, but we have to pay off my wife's car first and will be paid off in 2010. I can only afford one payment right now...

I think they will sell them as long as they can glean a profit from each unit. I can't imagine it would make it to 2011 or beyond, especially when they start offering V6's and hopefully with a manual option, maybe they can keep the platform around long enough and keep it interesting!

NO doubt about it. They could never recoup their R&D costs in one short model year (2008) plus a normal model year (2009). 2010 & 2011 models are already being worked on.

Probably not but cerberus doesnt seem very concerned with where chrysler threw their money in the past, they're more worried about what's costing them now. The PT cruiser convertibles and magnum were only around a couple years and they've already axed those. I get the feeling the Challenger is only making it this far because chrysler had already announced it and was basically gearing up for production.

The Magnum was produced for 4 model years and the PT convertible for 5 model years. The Challenger will stick around as long as sales are decent, it has never been in any danger of being cancelled, it's going to make a lot of money for Chrysler. While the "focus" is getting heavier on fuel efficient vehicles, it doesn't mean that large cars are going to go away. Not every family can fit into, or will want to drive around in a Prius. The Challenger V6 will get around 24-25 highway mileage which isn't all that bad for the vehicle class.

Thanks ResumeSpeed!

One should be mindful of one's factual accuracy amongst posts. I'll caveat any factoids I'm too lazy to research with a question mark or a "I think" after it.

I was under the impression that the magnum didn't come out until 2006. . . Anyway, I was more referring to the fact that chrysler seems to be making a lot of quick and surprising decisions lately, and if the Challenger doesn't perform exactly like cerberus wants it to, they'll probably axe it just as quick. I'm trying to avoid a pun mentioning "bold moves".
