I am very happy with the power my SRT8 has. I will not be racing it (much) as I have a 1970 Daytona clone and a 1967 Charger for that. And, after pricing replacement Goodyear Supercar tires...I'll save the burnouts (for the most part)for them as well...

There was no 1970 daytona's ever been built

I beleive he said clone!!

There is a rumor that 3 1970 Daytona's were built but not really sure!!

I did drive in a real 69 Daytona in Florida a few years back and boy, what a ride!!!

Im with Snooter if the 5.7 Hemi is faster in the Ram than the Challenger, man we have a problem....[&:]
Yo Kevin!!! isn't it a fact or at least a very popular rumor that the auto 6.1 is faster than the manual???
What makes you think the 5.7 will be any different???
I've read that the 5.7 in the Ram will do 0-60 in under 6 secs so i'd say that's kinda close to the Challenger...

autos are usually faster than a manual but it usually is due to the driver....but with 6 speeds and 392 gears a good driver in the stick rt will beat the auto....not until you drop az a 392 stroker hehe

There were actually 3 1970 Chargers made with the "Daytona Conversion Package" (I've actually seen one, so I know they exist - probably the only one left). All they had were the Daytona's nose and wing - they didn't have the flush rear window, fender scoops on top of the front fenders or the chrome A-pillar posts.

I'm going to throw in my complaint here just for the heck of it. Unlike a ton of people here, I don't have the money to throw into a new R/T to mod it to keep up with the Mustang GT. I don't have the money to throw into a new SRT-8. Being that the Challenger is more expensive then the Mustang, I don't know if I can even get one, but if I do, I would like it to keep pace with the Mustang GT. I'm not into tearing up my car, I don't want to race this guy because my car is bigger and better, or I think it is, I don't want to beat this guy to prove that my balls are bigger then his, all I want is to have a car that can move.

At this elevation, power means a whole lot. I can't imagine people who had Geo Metro's here. What I like about my Mustang is that when I have a short on ramp, I can get moving before I get ran over by whatever vehicle is coming up in the lane at 65 mph. That's the only reason I want it to keep pace with the Mustang. If the Camaro is faster then either, so what. I don't care. Just give me a car that isn't going to get me in trouble when I need it most.

I love this car, but please keep me safe is all I'm asking. It seems that it's to much to ask for unless you have a lot of money.

Well then Axel... go find a dealer with an SE and get them to give you a test drive. Maybe the SE would be the perfect set up for your needs. I get the impression it is not slow... just not as performance minded as the R/T an SRT trims. Lets say spirited performance...

Got nothing to lose giving it a try...

But doesn't that go against what I was just talking about? Keeping up with the GT? My wife's Avenger moves nicely with that engine, I don't know about the Challenger. I can really sit and wait for an R/T if I have to.
