every source says that the high end challengers will be priced similarly to the charger srt8 models...which would be hgh 30s (charger srt8) to the 43,000 range (300c SRT8). however, that dr z promotional giveaway is for a hemi powered challenger, and it says that the estimated cost is around 30,000...i expect to pay high 30s to low 40s.

I started "the list" at a local dealership last month, with a small deposit - #1! They would not agree to my offer of MSRP, and said that market value at time of delivery would be the cost - makes sense, if only one Challenger is shipped to the state, can't blame them for wanting a markup. I have first right of refusal, so that I can back out and receive my deposit back. Let them collect the interest - if you can't afford the loss of a small amount of money (interest on the deposit), you probably can't afford the Challenger...

Guess it comes down to how bad you want it. My deposit was only 500 so thats not bad at all but I hope I can escape at or below 40,000

Factories cannot sell cars, only dealers. Can't see making an early 07 ship date either. Challenger specific stamping dies and molds must be built. Building this car on the Charger platform will significantly accelerate this process, but Challenger specific components must be built... like turning a 4 door into a 2 door! Also, atleast 10 cars must be built for crash tests and then epa and c.a.r.b. certification must be completed. I'm waiting too!

ive been told by a reliable source that ten more cars exist, which were actually built by chrysler, as opposed to the DETCHA car built by metalcrafters...however, most professional sources are saying that the challenger wont be available until early 08 at best...

Try Big Valley Dodge in Van Nuys. I bought my neon from them. They were cool. Ask for Marcus. Hopefully he is still there.

The 10 cars minimum needed for crash tests are not required to be built from production tooling. However, the finished dies are needed for production. None exist as of yet. Doesn't mean they are not being built outside of DCX, only that they haven't arrived at stamping plants yet. Once in plant, they will need to go through a tryout process and will need to be productionized. The good news is once in, wont be long!

Ford Shelby GT500 doesn't stand a chance!
