Mr. Speed, I believe you are correct. The Charger/300 sales have plunged, and unless the updated Magnum suddenly starts selling like hotcakes (which I severely doubt), the Brapton Assembly Plant is going to have plenty of production capacity to crank out the (probably) more-popular Challenger. Hence, unless a person paints "Hey! I Paid $10,000 Over MSRP To Be The First Kid On My Block To Get A Challenger!" on his car, there is absolutely no reason not to wait several months to buy one.

SRT8 models have always been produced in somewhat limited numbers, the Challenger will be no different, but history has proven that waiting awhile until the initial demand wears off really pays off from a financial standpoint. If you want to be one of the first to own a Challenger SRT then you might as well start practicing bending over and touching your toes every chance you get.
The Challenger is without question going to help the Brampton plant get through the sales slowdown as the current LX generation winds down. The Challenger was built to make money, and that's exactly why they are going to try and sell as many as they can. Production volume will be determined by sales and demand, but monitored closely so as not to over-build.

RE: What is the expected price for the Challenger?
just thought id throw in my 2 cents..
im 18 and im also lookin at getting a challenger for graduation... if a 5.7 is made available with my time constraints... anyways, i do believe that a generalization is put on younger drivers ive been racing for quite some timie i realize i dont have half the experience as some members but regardless i can controll a car way beyond my years. Just throwin that out there to say that not all kids are clueless.

Once again, MSRP DOES NOT MATTER, THE DEALER CAN SELL A CAR FOR WHATEVER THEY WANT! Unless that Charger has 2 DOORS, it will not effect the Challenger, it's been out too long!

This may be of only marginal significance when it comes to the price of the Challenger.
There's an ad in the paper here (in KC) from a dealership offering a new '07 Charger R/T for $23,995. They say MSRP is $32,055. Are the '08's out I take it?

RE: What is the expected price for the Challenger?
My main concern is that Chrysler makes the ultimate mistake and outprice the car out of the genre's range. Pony car competition Mustant GT) sells in the 20,000 to 35,000 range with a Shelby version costing 40000. The new Camaro is slated for the low to mid 30,s range The car will falter if they price everyone out of it and allow dealers to scalp as is usually the case. It needs to be in reasonable price range to sell well. I love the new challenger, having owned over 15 of them (not at same time) and would like to buy this one. I would pass on it for the Mustang GT if the price gets to 40000 or above. Just not worth it.
Secondly, looking at the purchase survey, would that many people want a hemi? The car will need a strong V6 and mabe even a smaller v8. Love the hemi, but not everyone will want one with this engine, so lets get real.
I am also hearing that they will initially sell only automatics. Is this true? And would a convertable version be over 50,000? Your starting to get into the BMW convertable range. This should never happen.
I will wait till Feb and see what happens. Just not into getting raked over the dealer coals to purchase a car this expensive. I hope Chysler does the right thing and make enough copies available at a reasonable price for people to enjoy. Does anyone else fee this way?

RE: What is the expected price for the Challenger?
with only 5000 challengers being made for the 08 model and 30,000 for 09 it seems the price will be high with those numbers
