Who has a 2008 Challenger on order?
It sucks! I called the 1 800 number and finally got someone with some kahoney's to actually gave me a bit of information. She told me as usual dealer should be giving you the info. She told me I was in D still. I asked what was my build date, she said you would have to get that from your dealer. I told her my dealer said the only thing he could see was that I was in D. She said he can see the same thing that I can. I said well all he said he can see is that I'm in D. I pleaded for her to let me in, she told me my car was scheduled to be built the 2nd week of June. That is 3 weeks away, I don't neccessarily like that, but at least I finally had someone tell me the truth. The more I wait, the more I think about my order at 9:46am on 12/3 and I see a whole parking lot full of unstriped challengers and 3 weeks more of building them before mine is built. I am very. very close to telling Dodge/Chrysler to stick it where the sun doesn't shine. Day by day the allure is deminishing of the challenger. I was at Dodge waiting fot them to open for over an hour and a half, so I'm starting to get a little sour taste in my mouth, as the car may as well be badge 6400, as I really don't give a rat's ... . Anyway, enough ranting, I'm going to hang in there for now. If I knew I could get a definite 6.4 or a convertible or a red 09 srt, I wouldn't hesitate a minute. VIN # 289405
ill never have to wash it, it will always be clean. I havent washed my 67 nova in 12 years. would never kno still looks like he day it did after it was fully finished and detailed.
This evening, I happened to be near North Star Dodge in San Antonio and decided to stop in to see if they had any literature on the '09s. It took some convincing, but the salesman FINALLY figured out I was inquiring about the '09s, NOT the '08s. At any rate, before he figured out what I actually wanted, he was babbling on about the '08s. He said the dealership's allotment was "eight or nine," and "four or five" of those were already sold -- hence, so much for the "sold out" crap Dodge put out initially (or maybe "four or five" buyers got disgusted and canceled their '08 orders). Also, he said the cars were being held at the factory because Dodge wasn't pleased with the "fitting and finishing." He also said they have absolutely no idea when the cars will be released or when they'll have any "real" information on the '09s. They were NOT taking '09 orders. He looked at my Mustang and laughed that I probably wouldn't be interested in a Charger. I laughed and said no, only a Challenger. Nice guy, if a little slow on the uptake.
Well, cuda, the guy said Dodge "wasn't pleased" with the fitting and finishing. Maybe they're going for Mercedes-quality tolerance or something, since the '08s are in effect a special edition at a high price. It might be that the fitting and finishing was what normally would be put out. Who knows?

Hey Guys,
Someone mentioned that Motorweek has a show covering the Challenger so I looked into it. Speed will be broadcasting Motorweek on Friday 5/30 at 9:30AM, Saturday 5/31 at 7AM and 6/5 at 6AM. I would assume that the times are eastern times so take that into consideration.
I'm still at D1.

Yep Motorweek did their show on the Challenger this past weekend (Sunday, 05-25-2008). It was a good show. Good stuff about the Chally and they were pleased all across the board about it.
