I ordered a 2009 SRT Challenger from Champion Jeep/Dodge, Barrington, IL. They split the mark-up between invoice and MSRP. Based on 2008 prices, I estimate that I got a $1,250 discount. I only had to place a $500 deposit.

I live in NJ and the car will either be drop-shipped to a local Dodge dealer (for about $200-$300) or delivered to my door by Champion's enclosed trailer (about $500).

My salesman is Don Conrad, (866)279-2908.

I heard nothing but good things about him from reading posts on other Dodge forums.

Another dealer giving good prices is Fullerton Dodge in Southern California. They are offering any member of srt8oc.com any 2009 Challenger for $500 over invoice.

Well, in San Antonio, I just discovered that the city's only five-star Dodge dealer, Gunn Dodge, has suddenly gone out of business. No announcement, no nothing. It was quite literally there in the Gunn Autoplex (several dealerships all owned by the same family side-by-side on Interstate 35 -- all the rest are GM products) one day and gone the next. I'd intended to order my '09 through them, since they were fairly close to my house. Apparently, the Dodge lineup will be handled by the nearby Mission Chrysler-Jeep dealer (also a five-star facility). I suppose this is all part of Chrysler's combining of its dealerships, but it struck me as very odd. Now I'm kinda wondering how long Chrysler itself is going to be around if a huge dealership like Gunn Dodge suddenly disappears.

Well if you are around Brampton I went through Storage Dodge in Brampton and Windsor and by the way it is the biggest Dodge dealership in the USA and Canada. On my 08 Challenger they did not ask for a penny over MSRP and after all of the press over the challenger they could have but didn't. They did try to get me to give up my draft pick so there best customer could have an 08 and when I said no they still treat me very well. I am sure they are sick of me digging for info on this car. I would recommend them and they stand by there word.

The dealerships I had dealt with were:

Suburban Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge (Novi, MI) -- Long story short, I walked in, asked for info on the '08, and the guy put my name down on a list and that was the last I heard from the dealer. They did not return my phone calls and basically refused to deal with me. Not to sound cliche but I wonder if being 23 has anything to do with it and that they assumed I was wasting their time. From then until now my father has received 3 promotional phone calls from this dealer since he bought a Jeep from them 4+ years ago. Yet they won't try and sell me a $40k+ car? I didn't even bother trying to get them to respond after 3 weeks.

Tamaroff Dodge (Southfield, MI) -- This worst dealer I have dealt with bar none to date. There's a huge backstory to go with this and I'd advise simply reading the long posts I've already made about the dealer on another forum. The posts are far too lengthy to copy-paste here and wouldn't make sense out of context.

Long story short they were only pleasant until I put down my $1000 deposit and agreed to the $5k over MSRP. Then they just short of refused to return my phone calls and they basically flat out refused to ever tell me the order status of my '08 with them -- claiming Chrysler wouldn't tell them the order status or something. Horrendous service. Horrible dealership. I am making it a point to steer anyone away from Tamaroff Dodge that I possibly can when someone wants a Dodge.

Dick Scott Dodge (Plymouth, MI) -- These guys were nice. Their internet department was prompt and responsive. The salesman I dealt with was very nice and actually genuinely interested in the car himself. He showed me a few times snapshots of the chally he took on his cell phone during some Chrysler demonstrations of the car. The only problem I had with them is that they had 14 cars on order, two of them didn't have VINs and were in C status (which included mine). Given that the most I've heard a single dealer getting is 4-6 I assume many of these cars will not in fact be built. Being that I was on the lowest possible rung on the list, I wasn't confident in my order. To add to it, Dick Scott Dodge refused to set a price on the car and mentioned they sold their first one for $16k over MSRP. The lack of confidence that the car would ever be built and that they were refusing to set a price (and that it could be $16k over MSRP) I pulled my order in favor of Bob Frederick.

I'm willing to chalk up the Suburban Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge experience to a fluke. The guy I dealt with was a BRAND NEW salesman (I was going to be the FIRST person on his own personal '08 contact list and this was in late March). Maybe he got canned already.

With Dick Scott Dodge they were actually very pleasant and I can't really chalk up much to their fault. They did things well. My only real complaint is that they refused to set a price and that's ultimately what made me go elsewhere.

Tamaroff Dodge... though. Steer clear. I spoke with the salesman and two manager-types (not sure their exact title) and all of them were beyond jerks -- like I say, read that thread for the full information.

I am quite familiar with all three. I despise Suburban and would go out of my way to keep people from going there. Only once have I set foot on their show room floor and I was treated with disrespect. The service department there is also nothing short of a disaster. I took my Crossfire there and when it was done I found that the part I originally came in for service on was not fixed and there was grease stains from where the technician touched all the plastic trim. The service manager looked at but didn't really solve the problem. Bottom line.. Bad dealer.

I have bought a number of cars from Golling Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep in West Bloomfield. They are OK to deal with it. I don't trust them, but I don't trust any car dealer...
