Unless my math is wrong, I added up the RT prices above and with a 6 speed but a smaller engine than the 08.....the base price is $39,290, and auto trans and 5.7L $38,780, actually more than the base price of the SRT8 in 2008.....not really that great a deall. I will stick with the 6.1L.

At your $36,710 does that include ALL of the options on the 2008? Probably not, and it is within what? A thousand bucks?

I wanted a stick not an auto. Plus I think the 3.08 gears on the 08's hurt it plus no limited slip differential versus the 3.92 gears with limited slip differential that I will have on the 09 R/T.

Plus the big factor is paying over $5k to $15k over sticker. That is what swayed me away from the 08's.

 

Cool, I have a Charger RT right now....great engine, great power. I have driven a friends 300 with the 6.1L and, wow!, what a difference. Do you know the difference in performance specs between the 09 5.7L with a stick and the 08 6.1L with auto?

I personally used to feel a car was not a car without a stick.....but I really enjoy the auto stick in my Charger and know I will love it in the Challenger. And, besides as I got older, I really hate using the clutch in slow moving traffic.

As far as the differential goes, I am not personnaly planning on drag racing this car and I believe most will not. THe actual practical use for this feature is probably close to zero. Could this be a sales ploy for the old school minds that gets them to spend a little more....what do you think?

Also, I did an informal survey on this site and most spent $5k over down to MSRP. The high prices have been paid by those who did not order their car. Also, when they build the SRT8 09, I believe we will see markups on those also.
