2009 Pricing Announced!
But you have to understand why the chargers are sitting in showrooms, no offense to any new charger owners here but they are not a charger, they are 4 door sedans, Chrysler could have called in anything but a charger.
Chrysler knows they messed up on that car as many of us charger purists, myself included were very upset at the so called new charger.
Chrysler learned their lesson on the Challenger and they knew they could not go too far away from the 1970 challenger to the 08 challenger. That is why the chargers are sitting on the lots. It will be different for the challenger.
Look at the 2005 mustang, at first they were hot with dealers asking $3k to $5k over sticker for the GT's. Now you can get a new Mustang GT for $3k to $5k below sticker.
Just my $0.02!!

Wow only 21K for an SE. Six cylinder cars usually go for close to 30K. I think people will buy a jillion of them as long as Chrysler is able & willing to meet the demand. I could imagine them eventually outnumbering the mustangs. No other affordable new car looks as cool as the Challenger! But if I got an SE I would definitely add on a rear spoiler and paint on the hood stripes. Then it would look just as cool as the SRT8

Much thanks, Sir.

Production of 09s is supposed to begin after the two week July plant break. What I understand is the R/Ts are supposed to be built first (late July) then the SRT8s (probably beginning the first or second week of September)
So my guess is if you order an SRT8 or R/T tomorrow youd be waiting between three and four and a half months to get your car.

The best advice I've received is to wait it out one year after the initial launch. By then, all the madness will have started to die down and you will be more apt to get your Challenger at MSRP or below.
I do have a question though - how long would it take (roughly) from the time you order one at the dealership until you physically take delivery? Anyone care to gaze into their crystal ball and help The Beener out here?

I have 4 2009 Challengers scheduled and one of them is in D status with a VIN already ! The other 3 are in C status. 1 SE, 2 R/T and 1 SRT8 are the models.
Just thought I'd let you guys know.

Hi Joani,
It sure is starting to look like the 09s are going to ship before all of the 08s are complete. What is your opinion of this?
Should I just cancel my 08 and get an 09?
Thank you,
Dave
P.S. My name is on file at your dealership already, has been since January or February.
