Challenger vs Camaro?

To a buyer who could easily afford either, and the price difference was not a big deal, the total package of the SRT could be much more appealing than the SS. SRT is better looking, more usable, and the performance should be *roughly* equivalent.

Oh I agree but someone else brought up the whole mod "debate". Clearly the mustang is the best bang for the buck right now in that department. Buy a new one for 24 grand, dump another 10 into it, and you're faster than a GT500.
But you are right that there is more to a car than how fast it can go for x dollars. Aesthetics are important. Very important. If I thought a car was ugly as piss I wouldn't want it. Porsche comes to mind there. Just ugly ass frog cars. I can't stand the front ends and those headlights. I don't give a crap how fast it is I wouldn't want one.

Speed for the money is important, but I will freely admit that I am blinded by the hotness that is Challenger. Unless the Camaro or Mustang breaks the sound barrier in the 1/4 mile, my mind is pretty well made up.

lear I don't think it's gonna be as close as you're anticipating between the SS and the SRT.Yes obviously it comes down to driver, but the same HP give or take 1 and a more aggresive gear minus 300lbs gives the Camaro the edge, that's why I said I'll play with one when I see it but I have no reservations about beating it.

Fast times show a tenth of a second difference between the two... I call that a drivers race between two good drivers. HP is one thing, but how flat that horsepower curve is quite another. I've not seen either on a graph... but know that peaking 500 hp for 500 rpms is not as good as 450 hp for 2500 rpms. Rear gearing favors the SRT-8 at 3:92. Again too close to call, drivers race. My point of view and we know what thats worth. It will be what it is and the street will talk.

This kind of reminds me of the 70s, when I went to high school. The smack talk and all the road tests. Back then I drove a Hemi orange 72 340-4 speed Duster. And there were more Chevy and Ford boys than Mopar boys. But I took their money just the same. I was hot and heavy into street racing. We did our picking while cruising K-town and Concord, then early in the morning around 1:00 AM we would do our money runs. NOS was a sweet equalizer for big blocks and the look on their faces was priceless. My best friend had a 71 440-6 4-speed Challenger with a narrowed 9" Ford rear end and that was one sweet time racing in it. I can't remember ever paying out on a race in it. Those were really fond remembered days and this time we are in now has some of the flavour. We should enjoy these times and I'm glad the GT and SS boys can join in the fun too. These are the days.
